Agony of India's Daughters
Agony of India's Daughters
I'll be a doctor saving lives,
said the little girl with her eyes shining bright.
Little did she know what the future had in store,
A dark night that shook the nation to the core.
Working late, believing humanity still thrive,
Was all the innocent soul did to be burnt alive.
The sky cried, the earth shrieked,
as another father's little angel begged and plead,
She must have fought, she must have retaliated,
But the lust of body once again overweighed.
Watch your clothes, watch your walk,
This is what girls are taught.
But,
Look for your sister in each,
Is something that we should preach.
A crop top invites attention,
Yet why does a burqa witness so much of lustful reactions?
An 8-day old baby girl doesn't wear skirts,
Neither an 80-year-old tries seduction,
Then why does the newspaper always talk about such shameful action?
It's not the clothes that need to change,
It's the thinking that we should work upon.
Nirbhaya, Damini, or Priyanka
The names keep on changing
But the crime doesn't
We keep on marching, lighting candles
Waiting when will law take an action?
We hope you are in a better place now
Away from all the pain and sorrow.
We are sorry no one stood by your side,
The humanity in this world has long died.
