A Youthful Daring
A Youthful Daring
Hidden in the early morning mist,
A shy down-turned bud,
Raised its head for the sun to kiss.
Wet with dew,
As its green shroud slipped,
The sun was already upon her lips.
In just the briefest space of time,
How a timid life was turned around,
Ah! The power of a scorching kiss.
Throwing open its treasured caches of nectar,
The once coy Poppy was now ablaze,
Dancing in the vagrant breeze.
Trembling in the memory of its morning tryst,
With all its tender petals asunder,
It cared two hoots for the moral slander.
