What if we never knew of each other?

What if there wasn't an 'Us'?

Would I still find someone to cling on to

As I hopped towards the school bus?

What if we never sat side by side?

What if we never shook hands?

Would I still find someone who would listen to me

As I ranted about my favorite boy bands?

What if we never exchanged numbers?

What if we just remained shy?

Would I still find someone who would crouch with me in a corner

Just to tell me that it's okay to cry?

What if I never saw you stammer on stage?

What if you never saw me slip and fall on the floor?

Would I still find someone who would be so hilarious

That I would ask for the same joke once more?

What if those flirty texts never existed?

What if there were no pick-up lines tried?

Would I still find someone whose eyes would scream in pain

But lips confidently lied?

What if we never misunderstood?

What if we never disagreed?

Would I still find someone who would hug me from behind

And I would not make a single plea to be freed?

So what if my "What ifs" came true?

What if I woke up into a world without you?

Maybe I would just fasten myself in the paper rocket you made me

And leave this world in search of the one with you.
