A Tribute To My Father

A Tribute To My Father

My hero, my father I am in your debt

A person like you, is very hard to forget.

Through the good times and bad

Your protection and support I ever had.

To be a man like you, is my aim

But the slut time played the bloody game.

Until 1999, life was supreme and sublime

May 5th was the date they did the crime.

My hero was a man so handsome

Unfortunately, he was kidnapped for a ransom.

Quite abruptly, the life-line started rifting

Then, I was cherishing my bitterest fifteen.

I was not ready to bid goodbye

Years from now, I know I will cry.

I was forced to see things take life

It's like hurting heart with a knife.

Stagnating in a pond, my life is like a hell

Evincing the agony you suffered in the terrorist-cell.

I love you BABA, as you would see

Missing you Daddy, woe is me.

Time flies and already I am thirty-two

Look! Daddy, I learnt the things that you loved to do.

Discrimination! Discrimination! as you all would say

But in my brooklet flows bloody sweat of the 5th May.

Fate blew a gust of despair

Now, I ask you, "Oh God! Is this fair?"

When I tried to throttle my cries

All I envisaged, were tears in my Papa's eyes.

Paroxysm of anger and anguish that I only had

Forgive me, I couldn't save you, sorry Dad.

Yet in my steps, your whispers stay—

Guiding me still, though torn away.
