A Prayer To Kali

Across the horizon, thunders burst and darkness patiently looms,

And a mystic black canopy of clouds hovers above,

I see myself now as a trivial greedy being ready to face that rain,

Stuck inside a glass jar of comfort, as I dance upon the waves of Unknown.

But if in all such Unknowns You manifest, then why hide behind my ego in Knowns?

May be to show that at the end of all myths, lies the Eternal Truth, untold.

I can hear the sound of Your anklets approaching - as sinners rejoice in the hope of being forgiven,

Come, Mother Come, quench the thirst of this needy soul.

Look around and see, there are no rose-tinted spectacles on sale today for hypocrites,

All their ego and wants have been beheaded by your sword, yet as they revisit their needs

Oblivious of their sorrows, intoxicated in their pain, they rejoice with the thought of a divine surrender.

Come Mother come, for Eternal Truth is Your name, to sinners and sages alike,

You are the Truth, the absolver of all sins, and The Mother to us all.

Where is that elixir that you said that you would provide?

That can cure my greed yet not let me overdose on it - the treasure for which I was born.

The one, who accepts bliss and curse, success and failure alike,

To him, the potent receiver of all Her boons, my Eternal Mother comes!
