Tulips
Tulips
They used to be so fragrant, you know?
Bright, colourful, and happy
The flowers you left at my doorstep ;
Hoping that I'd get them.
It was last Thursday, I guess?
Or was it 5 years ago?
Feels like forever now,
I am not really sure.
The bunch of pink and yellow tulips,
Always laid back there,
We were too confident in our relationship ;
We thought the distance was fair.
In course of time, we forgot to check,
The distance that extended,
It spread and spread and spread afar
And a rift grew.
We should have dismantled it ;
The second it rose,
But again, we thought we would be okay
Was it even a big deal?
If we would have paid a little more attention,
Perhaps we would have known,
A bit from me and a bit from you,
Perhaps the distance would not have grown?
But the past is in the past now,
What help does it do to bring it up?
It looks best in our memories now,
Preserved behind our heart's doors.
They used to be so fragrant you know?
Bright, colourful, and happy,
The flowers you left at my doorstep,
But now, they lay dried and ruined.
