A plea
A plea
Dear Society
When the journey of life begins,
I hold your tender pink little fingers
to tend you with love, nurture with fondness
and lead you to face the wider world.
I teach you compassion, benevolence
and worth to all.
I instil strength, for you to stand tall
when the harsh winds blow strong.
I embrace you, till you blossom
and soar like a butterfly
leaving your cocoon behind.
When I chanced to peep into your wider world
I shuddered and retreated with fright.
An abyss of falsehood, deceit, revulsion
and cold hearts seething in envy and disdain.
Is this what I moulded
I succumb
It is me who has failed.
