A Letter

I have written a letter,

And I have saved it under my pillow,

I have said again and again,

You make me better,

And I have saved the words in my mind,

Just in case I run into you,

Anytime, anywhere,

You can read it,

You can tear it,

But we both know it,

We've been running in our heads,

Away from each other,

Just to wind up in the same place,

Together,

At the same time,

In the same place,

In the same room,

Where we hide what we feel,

The beauty of the night,

How we sleep to hide,

We keep ourselves apart when all we think is how to be in touch,

For once let's keep it out of pride,

I don't know how to hide anymore.
