A Childhood Tale
A Childhood Tale
It was a long time ago
When there was no dates and nobody cared about time
There was no particular language
And the mortals relied on the chime!
Landscape was the only thing considered beautiful
Trees showed supremacy and the birds hovered high
Humans were still not evolved
As a result of which there was never a “why.”
Besides the serene beautiful river
Lived kangaroos and bears, giraffes & deer
Amidst the muddy clay and sweeping terrains,
They remained jovial & shared their cheers.
Conifers projected high into the sky;
Trees closing upon them like a perfect home:
Parrots and looms, swifts & woodpeckers occupying various berths.
The perennial sound of buzzing and whirring creating an impenetrable dome
Fairs were organized occasionally;
Some danced and others hopped forward and across:
Tortoise, flies, beetles, ants, bats, and rhino.
Basically, it was all a chaos!
Among the most loved
Was a father-son duo of bears.
The son always carried a wild Rosid
In the memory of its mother.
The little one perched on its father’s shoulders
Was a common sight to behold.
Roaming around the clearings and wild
They entertained everyone & the downhearted were condoled.
It was another such day, the pandemonium at its peak.
When the little bear stole away in unbounded glee,
Little aware of the fact that it was to be its last spree.
Meanwhile, the father heard a distant cry of a banshee.
Trusting his instincts,
The father launched into a run,
Joined by others.
They searched, with an ebbing hope, all day long.
Reaching the place they called a home
He tried to put his fears on hold
The eerie silence around
Seemed quite distant & cold.
A wild Rosid lay where his child should have been
Hunting had (finally) begun
After all, they were mere 'animals'
And the 'humans' had just 'evolved'.
