Rajat phone rings and flashed “Mona Calling”

Without letting the phone ring any further Rajat received the call – Hi Mona, How are you doing? Such a long time. I heard your pet “Fluffy” is not well, guess he caught a cold. Do you want me to refer some veterinary physician, I know someone personally. Don't worry dear “Fluffy” will get well soon. Take care. Please feel free to call me if you need anything.

 While Rajat was busy on his call, Priya was staring at the blank walls of the lawyer chamber, they were here together to file for separation. She patiently waited for 20 minutes for the call to get over.

There was so much she wanted to say to Rajat, so much she wanted to hear from him,

Priya – Rajat, Why are we doing this? 20 years of our marriage and you want to put an end to this? What did I do to deserve this? I have devoted my life to you, our family, our kids, where did I go wrong? You always called me your supporting pillar and now...

Rajat – “Supporting Pillar” – Just look at yourself. Do you think I deserve women like you? Our kids are ashamed of you, I am ashamed of you. Yes, I know you were working at some point in time but now you don’t fit in our society at all. And yes what you did for us was your duty as a wife, mother and not to mention you have been provided with all luxury, comforts of life. But now I can’t take up this anymore. Kids are more than happy in your absence and you are already aware of how much they adore “Mona” and would love to have her in their life. And I too like her.

Go and have a good look of yourself in the mirror, am sure you‘ll end up hating yourself and you expect us to love you. You don’t have any self – respect of what

Priya – Rajat I had quit my job so that you could chase your dreams!

Rajat – Oh please, writing books, the novel is not a career.

So please let us end this and save us (me and my kids) from further embarrassment. Just sign the separation paper. You tell me what amount you need I‘ll give to you. Don't create any nuisance and the emotional drama any further. We are officially done here!!!

Priya, Priya – do you want to say something? Lawyer asked

Priya got startled by this imaginary conversation she had in her mind.

She looked at Rajat, that look was sufficient for Rajat to realise what he was about to lose.

Priya took the pen from the lawyer and signed the separation papers. Rajat and the lawyer were shocked to see Priya signing the paper without any argument.

She walked out of that chamber feeling light, free as if the wind of self-realisation has hit her hard.

5 years down the line she became a renowned author her books won accolade not only on a national but international level too.

As she was being awarded Best Author of the year, one of the reporter in the audience asked  “Mam, when did you realise you could become a renowned author?

Priya smiled at this question and answered – Self Realisation can come in any form, you just need to be aware of it. And at that very moment miracles happen.
