Rich Beggars (blank verse)
Rich Beggars (blank verse)
The night was chilly and the road isolated,
Everybody cozily tucked in the comfort of their homes,
Under the quilt, they felt peace and warmth,
Only these two souls enjoyed the vacant street.
The lofty houses with fireplaces,
The wealthy people enjoying the wintry chill raising a toast,
Dressed in expensive woolen garments they chatted and sipped,
Only these two souls enjoyed the chilly night.
The pavement was their abode,
The little ignition was their warm zone,
The mother and son laughed and clapped,
For they found happiness in their meager living.
They lived on daily wage, had hungry mouths to feed,
Yet with smiles on their faces, they passed days,
The wealthy men had cupboards of treasures,
But their dry hearts and moist eyes recites their solitude.
