Another scar,

Another cry,

I wish I could do something more

Than just sigh

She was me, I was her,

But I couldn't do much,

To help my girl.

A step she takes,

A step I took.

A mistake she makes,

I just sit and look.

We're connected,

Yet far apart

She felt my presence,

I felt her broken heart.

I was by her side

When she made her first cry

I was by her side

When she wanted to die.

I try to get up

But am pulled back down.

I try to push her back up.

When she wants to drown.

Lurking behind her

As she walks to the edge,

And I know

I can’t do much,

I'm just a mere shadow.
