Autumn Leaves

Autumn Leaves

1 min 459 1 min 459

Autumn leaves scattered on brown earth

Rustling through her bare feet

The foliage, now crisp and dry

A magical carpet underneath

She looked up, taking in the sight barren

The majestic tree now standing shorn

Once adorned by green and golden leaves

Its loneliness now reflected her own

She tip-toed through those crumpled, strewn leaves

That the changing seasons had crushingly left

Thinking of the winds of time that had stolen from her

Like the desolate tree, she felt bereft

It stood alone, but proud and firm

Waiting for the flowers to bloom and the birds to sing

Like the tree, she felt free

She would wait, for times to change, for the onset of spring
