THE SEPARATION
THE SEPARATION
Darkened skies, rain-scented air
I sit at the window and reminisce the time
When we rushed outside, forgetting all pains
And drenched our hearts and souls in the rain
But today, I have shut all windows.
Not even a drop should enter.
For if rains come and ask for you
I will not be able to answer.
Come and feel the breath of the sea!
The waves shyly embrace the shore
And then revert, as if overcome with shame
In the sea, I see, the two of us
Walking hand in hand, on the sun-kissed sand
I bend to look closely. And then immediately run away.
For if waves come and ask for you
I will not be able to answer.
The season is autumn. The leaves have yellowed.
Do you remember when we wrote
Our names on the fallen leaves
And set them sail in the water...
I saw a fallen leaf, near the door, today.
I took a broom and brushed it away.
But if more leaves come to bid you their final goodbye
I will not be able to answer.
I know you always admired the stars
We had planned to explore them together
But you betrayed me and went alone.
I turned away the rain, the sea, the leaves today
But if they come again tomorrow and ask for you
I will not be able to answer.
