Kick It Before It Kicks You

You made me believe you will stick around with all my pain,

Slowly you got inside me and took control over my veins.

You made it possible to get through each day, bitter or better.

I didn't know, with each passing day, I was being nothing but being shattered.

I was addicted to you so bad,

My life now turned into misery which was awfully sad.

I didn't know who I am, anymore,

The loneliness creeped in and I realised the pain which I bore.

There was no option left but to choose you,

If I didn't, I had no clue what to do.

I got moulded into the person I never wanted to become,

Battling with life, figuring out how to overcome.

You conquered my body and soul,

I wanted to be myself, complete and whole.

I wanted to let things out, go tell someone, to figure out a way,

But was scared, scared of getting judged so I kept my thoughts at bay.

But, slowly and steadily, I built myself,

Found the urge to fight back,

I wanted to get rid of you,

The sick does or heroin.

Now, I am in control and you are out of my life,

Being in good health, calm, cool and fine.

Now, I am sober, the person I always wanted to be.

You might be jealous but that does not matter to me.

I do the things I never thought I would do,

And I a proud to say, I am doing it without the use of you.
