White Rose Pack (Chapter-50)
White Rose Pack (Chapter-50)
Adina
It was the day of the sting operation, and Adina was sitting on the couch in Colin’s office. Colin was sitting next to her with his hand on her knee as he was going through some paperwork. Sean was standing, looking out of the window.
Adina had tried to focus on the report from a business that she owned. But it was useless. The false exchange had taken place ten minutes ago and still no word about anything. She felt Colin gently applying pressure to her knee, and she realised she was tapping her foot.
“Sorry,” she said and got a smile from him. Sean walked over to them and gently squeezed her shoulder before sitting down in the armchair, taking out his phone and focusing on it.
Colin had become even more at ease with Sean’s presence around her since they had marked each other. Adina felt like everything fell into place. She just needed to sort things with the council and life could settle down, she thought.
Another half an hour passed before the mind link from Cernack came.
‘Alpha Thorsten’s men were ambushed,’ he informed her.
’Injuries?” she asked.
’Two of Thorsten’s men received minor injuries. Ten of the twelve attackers are dead. They didn’t expect the ambush from our side. The two others have been detained,” Cernack answered.
‘Who?’ was her next question.
‘Cleatus. He has been captured and placed in isolation until you can talk to him.’
‘Thank you, Cernack. We’ll see you in two days. Send my thanks to alpha Thorsten and the other three packs as well,’ Adina linked.
‘It was my pleasure, my lady. I have sent over the first part of the requested report. Safe travel,’ Cernack said.
“Cleatus,” Adina said out loud.
“Fuck,” Sean said.
“Did you get him?” Colin asked.
“Yes, and two of his men. They’ll be waiting for us when we go to Virginia. No one will have access to them until then,” she replied. Both men nodded.
“Cernack has sent the first part of the report,” Adina added. She had filled Sean in on what Cernack had told her about the council.
“I’ll go get our laptops,” Sean said, standing up.
“Thanks,” she smiled at him.
Colin had showed her the luna’s office the other day. It was to be hers now. But since it had been closed up since his mother had died, it needed some updating and a fresh coat of paint. While that was being done, she used the desk in their apartment, or she joined Colin in his office.
“Colin?”
“Yes, babe,” he answered.
“Now that we are staying, we need to find Sean a better room. He can’t keep living in one of the guest rooms,” Adina said.
“I know. I have been thinking about that and I have
an idea,” he said with a smile.
“Let’s hear it then.”
“What about we give him the extra apartment on the fourth floor?” Colin asked.
“The alpha floor?”
“Yes, it’s usually used for the next alpha in line when he becomes older and before he officially takes the role. It will be some time until we have a pup that old. If we give it to Sean, we’ll have plenty of time to figure out a solution for the future and he will have his own place close to you,” Colin explained.
“I love you,” was all Adina could say before she kissed him.
“I take it you like my plan?” he asked when they broke apart to get some air.
“I do. I love it,” she smiled at him.
“Good, I’ll let you tell him. I have to get going if I’m to make it to the teenagers training in time,” he said, giving her another kiss.
Colin then went over to his desk and took out a set of keys.
“The keys to the apartment. It’s the door to the left of this office,” he told her.
As he left, Sean returned with both of their laptops.
“This will have to wait. We have an apartment to look at,” Adina smiled.
“What?” he asked.
“Come along,” she told him, grabbing his hand and towing him out of the office.
They entered the apartment after unlocking the door. The air was stale, but it looked like it had been cleaned regularly through the years. There was comfortable looking furniture that made it feel homy. The apartment had its own on suite, small kitchen and walk-in closet.
“Are you moving out of your apartment? Does Colin snore or something?” Sean asked.
“No, you idiot, this is for you,” she laughed.
“For me?”
“Yes, you can’t keep living in the room you are in now,” she confirmed.
“Why not?” he asked.
“Because it is tiny, and you deserve better after all these years of moving around. And when you find your mate, you can’t expect her to live in a tiny room with you,” Adina listed the reasons.
“Adina, you know I won’t have a mate,” Sean said. It was not the first time they had discussed it.
“I know that’s what you keep telling me. But everyone has a mate and now that we are settling down, you have somewhere to create a home,” Adina said.
“I’m grateful for the apartment. I will enjoy living here. And it’s closer to you, which will be nice. Thank you, Adina,” Sean said with a smile.
“No thank you necessary, Sean, not between us,” she smiled back.
“Let’s open a window and I’ll ask someone to clean it. Then you can move in when you want,” she added.
They walked back to Colin’s office and Adina forwarded Cernack’s e-mail to Sean. They sat on a couch reading the report in silence.
