"Priya, you got up so early today. OK, it doesn’t matter. I was about to tell Saurabh to send your breakfast to your room." Mother-in-law said smilingly.

Today is Sunday, the day declared as a holiday for all housewives. This day, which comes after six days, is so relaxed. No need of alarm, no concern for the children's lunchbox, or the responsibility of preparing a quick lunch for dear hubby. No botheration of housemaid. Rest of the days she works hard running about here and there.

“ DIL (Bahu), where is my tea?”

“Priya, I am not getting my wallet, have you seen it?”

“Mummy, I do not want parantha in my lunch box today. Please pack me sandwiches”.

“Madam (Bibi Ji), empty the vessels quickly, I have to serve two other houses”.

DIL (Bahu), it is time of medicines for father, has his juice been kept ready?”

“My God, those clothes are in the washing machine but have I kept the tap opened.”

"Mummy what are you doing? Be fast, my bus is about to leave.”

“Sister-in-law (Bhabhi Ji), My college friend is expected today. Please make some good snacks for them today.”

Priya was keeping herself busy catering to the requirements of each one of them. Probably she has left to live for herself. Others happiness was her happiness. She considered them as her responsibilities as her mother had been doing. She has to fulfill her responsibilities.

But the news had put new energy into her life. Not only for her but for thousands of housewives, which was no less than a rare gift. Just like demonetization, the Prime Minister had announced that Sunday will be a holiday for homemakers and housewives The whole of India will follow this rule strictly There were discussions about this news throughout the country. Every news channel was just broadcasting this news only...

After all, Sunday became a day for housewives. Last Sunday, Priya watched 2 movies on the same day, the passion for movies was always in her but after marriage, she got entangled with the responsibilities so much that she could barely see even TV. After the birth of Ansh, she could hardly get time for herself and Saurabh.

But since the time the Sunday was declared a holiday, it had almost become a miracle. On Sundays, she got up from bed leisurely. Mummy prepared breakfast while, she enjoyed the sip of tea, sitting comfortably in the balcony. The responsibility of Ansh was entrusted to her sister-in-law.

After the wedding, the candlelight dinner had become a dream. But last Sunday, when she got ready wearing her red-colored gown and went for dinner with Saurabh, poor Saurabh could not remove his eyes from her.

There was no time to meet friends earlier. But now on one Sunday, she could meet all her friends Megha, Dipti, Neha, Naina, Nimisha, after many years and they gossiped without seeing the clock as if the days of the college had returned once again. None had the hurry to return back home. Earlier when they used to meet it looked as if they were observing some rituals or formalities. Everyone pledged to continue meeting the same way.

Since the time “Sunday holiday" had been declared, the women of the whole country took the resolution that next time they would vote only for this party. Every Sunday there was a stir not only in the entire city but all over the country. After all, it was only a Sunday when a housewife was free from her responsibilities.

Freedom, what is the meaning of freedom Priya could understand now... Now she was eagerly waiting for the Sunday. Earlier the days used to change in the calendar but for her, every day was the same. Priya saw the calendar, it was a Saturday... Oh wow! Tomorrow is a Sunday a day of her holiday.

"Priya, Priya ... get up, what happened to you? Are you not well? Get up it is 8 O’clock. Mom and Dad are waiting for their tea. You were always getting up at 6 o'clock." Saurabh said waking up Priya.

“Let me sleep. Today is Sunday. It is my holiday.” Priya told in a lazy voice.

"What, a holiday? What are you talking? I do not understand" Saurabh said waking up Priya.

Priya opened her eyes and said, "Today is Sunday - a holiday for every housewife, Prime Minister had told on TV? Have you forgotten that? No housewife will do any work today."

Saurabh smiled and said, "Madam, get up, it seems you are dreaming. Hurry up; mother and father are waiting for the tea prepared by your hand. Do you know that without drinking the tea made by your hand the day of Papa doesn’t start?"

Saurabh smiled, kept his hand on Priya’s head and walked out of the room smilingly. Priya got up, stood in front of the dressing table and adjusted her hairs, the thinking was it a dream? Was it true a Sunday will not come for them? Will there be any day that will be a holiday for women?

“Priya, Priya my daughter-in-law (Bahu)”

The voice of the mother-in-law broke her sleep and she proceeded to the kitchen to prepare tea.
