For twelve years, Mira chased light across glaciers, deserts, forests, and forgotten cities. Yet every photograph carried the same impossible silhouette—a motionless shadow standing just beyond the frame.
Experts blamed lens flare. Friends laughed it off. She stopped mentioning it, but never stopped noticing. On her final assignment, deep inside an abandoned lighthouse, she took one last photograph.
This time, the shadow faced her. When the image developed, she froze. The figure wasn't following her through the world. It had been standing in that lighthouse all along, patiently waiting for the day she would finally arrive.
