The Peacock Tragedy

Once a couple of peacocks entered within the premises of an educational institution. The building had large glass windows and doors, which confused the peacocks when they tried exiting the building. While one of the peacocks successfully exited, the other one struggled on the first floor, pecking furiously the glass windows. Tired and confused, he fell off the window ledge and broke its neck.

A few faculty, students and housekeeping staff were watching this struggle all this while. While the faculty and the students looked on, the housekeeping staff tried to help the peacock survive, but all in vain. 

This was also a time when there was some friction going on between the management and students. In regard to this peacock incident, the word spread very fast with the students and the next day I had a chance to speak about it in class. Here is the summary of what I heard from the students: 

“Housekeeping are killing the peacocks”.
