The Mystery Of The Missing Cod

1) Pharaoh Kunu had a recurrent dream. He saw raiders mutilating his corpse that was laid to rest in the great pyramid. Just then a great man from faraway India appeared and explained to him the secret of everlasting existence, is through "Jal Samadhi"(a way of preserving the mummy deep inside the river Nile). He could not properly contemplate his dream because although at war with the neighbouring country, he was concentrating on victory and wealth. He shared his vision with the queen and his head priest and till the wise man from India could be found he decided to buy time in the war.

2) Parallel universe is a debatable concept for sure. As Dr Azacus explained to his students in Hyderabad, in present-day India. Though the laws of nature as prevalent on earth don't apply there it exists as a dimension, very similar to it with the same characters and any changes to it affect the current life of all organisms that exists in the world today. It is just like playing a different role in a different domain. The students were astonished for sure but could never doubt the capacity of Azacus sir.

3) The world today is fighting hard in the pandemic where the minuscule organism, a Virus, Corona, takes the lives of countless individuals. The prognosis of viral diseases and our know-how has definitely increased but the knowledge to counter the mutability of the virus is still a concern. The answer lies in targeting the receptor-binding protein of the virus, that target the body cells, get entrance and gradually lyse or kills it but every time a drug is developed, the virus mutates in quaternary conformation and makes it ineffective. So after so many hardships, a proper antidote to the virus could not be produced. Will the world, at last, bring an end to the deadly play of the virus. The DNA/RNA of the virus that changes its bases at every 0.2 nanoseconds can be halted by targeting the ORI site that codes for the receptor-binding protein.But that needs a search of the missing link.

ONE

Charu had settled in the laboratory and glanced at Vitron, an instrument to conduct the virological study. Adjoining it lay the petri dish containing Anibus/ Yuvaan's DNA which Charu had extracted from his fingernail. She inserted the test tube containing the DNA in Vitron and at the beep sound, noticed the machine flashing the message "Missing amino acid protein".She understood that there is a missing link and she had to go back in time as queen Bernice, queen of Pharaoh Kunu, to find the answer from Nefret, their beautiful daughter. But the evil Amon who was the half brother of Kunu wanted to take over the reins of Kunu and murder him.

Before long Charu contacted Yuvaan and informed him that the experiment had failed because the antidote amino acid chain required a missing link of amino acids that could target the ORI site of the virus couldn't be found. Charu and Yuvaan were senior scientists in the Dumpent Biotechnological laboratory in Hyderabad. Both were good friends and were in love with one another and were soon to be betrothed. But the deadline to bring an antidote for the virus was till the end of next month. In the scientific field you have to be the first with your invention and get a patent for it, else if the competitor companies reach the result ahead of you,you not only face heavy financial losses but your ultimate aim to reach your desired goal could not be reached and your whole scientific journey and career comes at a risk. 

"Have we got the receptor-binding protein map from the bioinformatics lab?", asked Yuvaan

"Yes but I am unable to decipher the amino acid sequence in a loop towards the P-121 region. Even the bioinformatics lab are in dark about it. I tried to make recombinant DNA using your and my antibody genes but it doesn't map the P-121 Region. That's why the experiment failed.", Charu had a tone of disappointment in her voice.

The psychologist Dr Uma Sen through hypnosis had revealed that they were Kunu and Bernice in their previous birth in present-day Egypt. The early Egyptians had a belief in highly purified blood. That's why they mixed their genes and were confident about the breakthrough. But now the missing chain of amino acids brought them to square one.

"Should we go back in time to Egypt through the sword of your grandfather which generates the wormhole big enough to reach the past and find out"?

"But there are chances that we may not return by the specified time. If that happens, which means if we cannot return to the present time, even our previous lives would cease to exist and Nefret would never be born."

"Where do you see yourself at your death. In the great pyramid?"

"No, inside the Sarcophagus deep inside river Nile".

"But mummies are kept in pyramids, right? Do you remember the events that brought your death?"

"Yes, I was murdered, that what's I could figure out. I saw myself being stabbed by a very evil man and the same man killed you as well. Do you remember your fate Charu?"

"No, The only thing that I could remember was that I was your wife Bernice in that birth."

"Then?"

"No clue".

"Don't worry the Astrophysicist Vikram Majhi would surely help us to reach our past and uncover the great secret."

TWO

When they met Vikram in Cafe Musac in Kolkata, it was a pleasant morning in the month of November. The sunrays that peeped through the transparent window panes of the cafe looked golden and marvellous. The sweet music of Kishore singing a popular Bengali Rabindra Sangeet could be heard which brought the rich taste and flavour of Bengal.

"Vikram, please tell us how we can activate the wormhole through my grandfather's sword. We desperately need to go back in time to find some answers. The P-121 region of the DNA needs to be found out and am more than sure that our daughter Nefret can give us a clue. Would also need to find what happened to me and Yuvaan in previous birth."

"The wormhole is at exactly at 30.9013° N, 76.9649° E near Kasauli but it can be expanded to take you to 2589 BC.But remember to come back here in this cafe by November 30, 2021, at 1750 hours".

THREE

When they reached Egypt in 2589 BC, they could see the kingdom of Egypt and the neighbouring kingdom at war. They could see a lot of bloodshed. It was the penultimate day of the war and it appeared that Egypt would be victorious.

Just then they could see a shadow with a dagger going to the king's tent and they couldn't believe what they saw with their naked eyes. It was Amon, King Kunu's half brother, who stabbed and killed the King and fled.

"So your murderer was your own brother Amon, the evil man you spoke about", said Charu.

Later they witnessed the entire mummification process, where the body was embalmed, the vital organs removed, except the heart, wrapped in cotton and delicately put in the sarcophagus.

Then another surprise awaited them. Instead of taking the mummy to the pyramid the head priest after performing the rituals immersed the mummy in the river Nile. This appeared strange and unlike the Egyptian culture

"But why did they do this? Now they will murder me as well. Somehow we have to save our daughter Nefret from Amon, otherwise the lineage she carries with her would be deeply buried and gone"., said Charu

"Look through your watch glass and see why they performed this surprising ritual on me. Why they didn't take me to the great pyramid?"., Yuvaan was anxious.

"But we could have saved you."

"Did you forget what Vikram said the moment we set out for this expedition? We can save only one person and take to the parallel universe. We have to see you get killed too."

"Look, you as Kunu met Vikram,of previous birth in an outfit matching India, advising you to be cautious about your life. He also requesting you to instruct your head priest to do the mummification, post your death, keeping only the heart inside and instead of taking the mummy to the pyramid immerse the sarcophagus in the river Nile so that the killer can't get to the heart which could take him to the parallel universe."

"That means Pharoah Kunu knew about the catastrophe that would befall on him but kept quiet because he didn't dare take action against his brother Amon"

FOUR 

At the parallel universe, another sight awaited them. There was no sign of war. Pharaoh Kunu and queen Bernice were very happy. The whole of Egypt was covered in a rich harvest. The administration, judiciary and kingship are in full command. The subjects were content and busy with their own lives. For a moment modern-day Charu and Yuvan felt what they saw moments ago, in 2589 BC was just a nightmare. Here the sky was deep pink and not blue and people spoke a language that was neither Egyptian nor English. There was gravity but people didn't need chariots or any vehicles to reach another place. They could just float through the air. The feeling would be somewhat similar when someone had a mild dose of marijuana. Here the mere thought would help an apple to fall, flower to blossom, trees to grow. The houses were made of glass-like material but the rays of the sun(or something similar to the sun) were not hard but soothing. There was no rain only mild snowfall.

Somewhere they found princess Nefret too but then they questioned themselves who was the baby they saved moments ago.

In a telepathic contact with the head of Astrophysics, the boss of Vikram, Dr Azacus, clarified that what they are seeing in a parallel universe is like a mirage and not to get overwhelmed

Dr Azacus also informed them that they should collect the DNA sample from the baby they had saved, and return her to 2589 BC in the care of the head priest and return to the present otherwise the entire balance of time would be disturbed.

"Just one more question Dr Azacus, why there are no pyramids here?", Charu asked

The parallel universe doesn't have any place for pyramids because they were constructed by extraterrestrials to tune their axial presence on earth with their own planet. Be fast you don't have much time. Amon has found your heart in Sarcophagus in the Nile and will soon reach you to kill Nefret.

Just then they saw the evil face of Amon nearing them to snatch away their baby daughter Nefret from them and kill her with a dagger.

The next few events occurred at 1/10000000000 of a second and when they regained their senses, found themselves at present-day Kolkata with Vikram at Cafe Musac.

Vikram was smiling and knew he had to answer their queries.

EPILOGUE

"Why Amon couldn't kill us or baby Nefrit in Parallel universe?", asked Charu

Because when he found the heart of king Kunu he could reach the parallel universe but couldn't leave it like you because you had your grandfather's sword and not him. He is still trapped in it and will remain so for time immemorial. Meanwhile, look through your Watchglass and see in 2589 BC your daughter or let's say Kunu's and Bernice's daughter Nefrit has become the queen in the safe custodianship of the head priest.

This time Charu combined her, Yuvaan's and Nefrit's DNA and got a match for the P-121 region. And the Vitron showed positive results. At last, the antidote to stop viral mutagenesis was found.

In the press conference, they could answer everything except the presence of the P-121 region inhibitor.

Perhaps it would take another visit to 2589 BC but for that, they have to wait for another wormhole. Some secrets should remain as secrets for science to investigate and give breakthrough discoveries that change the way we live life and the way we see things around us.
