The Mystery Of The Jeweled Ring
The Mystery Of The Jeweled Ring
Once on a sunny Sunday morning, Bess took her pet dog, Toto for a stroll in the park behind. Bess was the amateur detective, Terry Rodrick’s daughter who solved mysteries. His daughter took after him and had solved a bunch of dangerous mysteries. While taking her dog for a stroll she met her two close chums Rosemary and Alicia, who were going to run some errands for their mums. The trio decided to meet at Mr. Peterson’s bakery to have some goodies and also to pour out what had happened in the past week. As Bess put on a red and black flowered sun back costume, her father knocked at the door and said Oh! Dear, you look gorgeous. May I know where are you going? Bess told her dad that she was going to the bakery with her BFFs for a cup of tea, cake and to talk. Her father offered to drive her to the bakery on his way to his office. While sitting in the blue convertible Mr.Rivers told his daughter that he was solving a mystery. As Bess heard the word mystery she almost jumped out of her skin, she loved mysteries!!! She quickly asked her father what was it all about. Her father first looked around to make sure no one was hearing or was suspicious then whispered it to her.
Soon the car came to a stop because it was at the café / bakery, Bess, as instructed went to the café and evening, told the two girls not to waste time but go home, change into normal suits and meet her at the Blue Divine crossroads in 45 minutes.
Keeping their word the three girls reached the meeting spot at the given time. Then she told the mystery was: In the old dwelling across the crossroads there was an old lady living, she was taking a stroll in the garden. While going back home she noticed her jeweled ring missing, as it was her ancestors ring she started sobbing on the place. This lady had come to Mr.Rivers for a solution and he had passed on the mystery to Bess and her friends.
So the girls went over to the old lady’s dwelling to ask her questions about the robbery. They thought that if they meant in groups the old lady would be suspicious so they decided to let Rosemary go as she had a very charming face and could wrap all the elderly people in her tiny finger by putting on a sweet rosebud smile. And she also was very shrewd and knew how to tackle people without them realizing that they had given out a lot. When she went and asked the dweller questions, the lady told her that when she was coming from the park and was taking milk for her tabby.
In the line, a man was bumping into her continuously, so she had suspicions about that man. Rosemary was disappointed that the woman knew nothing about the ring or its whereabouts, but she had one clue the man’s address which was oddly in a cave. The girls went to the cavern and noticed that nobody was there and thought it was safe to go on. As they went on there was a lake in the middle of two rooms of the cavern and the girls had to reach there at any cost. Luckily there was a trail of stones in the middle of the lake so they could cross to the other side of the lake.
They started walking on the stones careful not to clutch at the other chum ahead, then suddenly Alicia grabbed at Rosemary’s arm and was horrified when the other girl lost her balance and was about to fall in the water and even worse there were hungry alligators in the lake. Bess who was standing at the last and was a champ in gymnastics caught the ivy above her, swung down to the river, and grabbed Rosemary before an alligator could have sunk its teeth in the girl.
Though Bess was awfully bruised she put her pain aside and aided Rosemary with the help of Alicia who was ashamed of her behavior. The three finished the trail and then told their soaked friend to hide behind a huge stone while they go to find the ring and the badman.
Bess and Alicia went and searched in all the knick and knacks of the place but could not find the priceless ring. At last, when Bess noticed a loose board on the floor she pulled it out with the help of Alicia. There was a very small hole but fortunately, Bess had a very small hand and thrust it in and took it out with the ring in her hand!!! As if the ring had an alarm the thief came at the moment and in the wink of an eye tied their hands and gagged them up. Rosemary sensed something had happened and she decided to repay her friend's kindness by calling the cops.
The cops came at the right time when the thief was going to escape, the police arrested and were very pleased and proud of the girls’ actions. He also told the old lady to be careful the next time.
