Why do people say that books are man's best friend? Reading is necessary because when we read we enjoy reading them and also benefit us by improving our reading skills and vocabulary. It also takes us to many places sitting in our house or library. It is way better than digital because the devices don't help us in any way and also spoil our eyesight. If you read a book without light it may also spoil our eyesight so, we should sit under proper light and read plenty of books. There are many types of books to read which are written by famous authors.

Now I want to share my experience with books and how they have helped me. When I was in Pre-Primary I faced problems in spelling and my vocabulary was very low. But, when I became around 5 years then I started reading books like Akbar & Birbal, Tenali Rama and so on I started learning bigger words and it also increased my vocabulary and my father encouraged me to read, when we were travelling he would ask me to read the hoarding boards and in restaurants, the menu cards. Also he made sure that before going to school I read the newspaper headlines. My first big book was THE THIRTEENTH PEARL From the Nancy Drew series by Carolyn Keene. And the first new word I found in the Famous Five series was Ingots which means gold bricks.

Below are books recommended for children as per the age groups.

To start with we can use picture dictionary for meanings regarding pictures which helps in better understanding and also in detail. Then for children from 6-7 years we can start by giving them books like Panchatantra and Jataka Tales. Later on for 7+ children we can change from big fonts to small fonts and books with bigger words.

Games to get relieved from corona virus boredom.

Read a book and act it front of your family and let them guess which book it is.

Prepare some chits with words on them and then ask your family members to pick one and to tell the meaning, synonym , antonym and a sentence on the word.

Every Sunday before going to bed write a review about the book/books you read and also prepare a bookdare and solve it.

Also try to read biographies about the brave hearts who went through struggle for us.
