Maya’s Adventure to Mountain Kailash

“ Maya! When are you planning to clean your room, there are piles of clothes on your bed and I am sure there is gum stuck on the floor. Your desk is scattered with books and pencils. Please start cleaning it.”said Mom. Maya nodded and went to her room and started by scrubbing the gum and then made her bed. She was so tired after cleaning the room that she slumped on the desk and then saw a huge mouse coming towards her. Someone was sitting on the mouse and riding coming towards her, the person was dressed very grandly with ornaments, what caught Maya’s eye was that the person had an elephant’s face.

It struck her that it was Lord Ganesh seated on Mushik! She was dumbstruck and her mouth was open like a goldfish. She sank down to her knees and has a devotional expression. Lord Ganesh stopped by her and said “ Stand up, child and sit on Mushik. I am on my way to my house, Mountain Kailesh . I am sure everyone would love to see you.” Maya could just nod as words had betrayed her. She sat on Mushik and they rode away.

After a while, they reached Mountain Kailash. Maya saw a beautiful lady with a motherly expression and she realised that it was Goddess Parvati with arms open. She hugged Lord Ganesh and then came forward to Maya, she beckoned “ My dear, why are you standing so far, come.”Maya was surprised went she saw the beautiful nature and the royal house was also mesmerising. Outside, she met Lord Shiva who was speaking to Nandi, the bull. He turned around and said “ Hello my dear, please be comfortable. Nandi here will attend to you.” Maya said “ Oh! That is not required, I can manage around.” Lord Shiva insisted. Then Lord Ganesh and Goddess Parvati led her to the royal house. When a maid opened the doors, Maya gasped at the beautiful house. It was more lovelier inside than outside.

 They headed to the dining hall and had a scrumptious lunch. Lord Ganesh had asked for more helpings and had filled his tummy well. After lunch, when it was time for Maya to leave, she said “ I had a wonderful time with all of you. Lord Ganesh we will be celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi from tomorrow. I will make sure to keep extra Modaks for you because I know you love Modaks. I will miss you all.” Lord Ganesh and Goddess Parvati smiled and nodded. Then suddenly, Maya felt someone splashing water on her face and screaming “ Maya when will you stop day dreaming. Your dad has gone to get the idol and there are hundreds of Modaks to make. Maya then realised that she had been daydreaming! She smiled and hugged her little secret to herself. Then she went to make Lord Ganesh’s favourite sweets and celebrate her favourite festival…….
