The Last Call

Ayaan and Ruby were best friends from their childhood and they never knew that one day their friendship would turn into immense love. They both loved each other so much that none other person could break their relationship. They both promised each other to continue their relationship forever.

After Ruby, Ayaan's biggest dream was to become an IPS officer. Ruby always supported and encouraged him for turning his dream into reality.

Ayaan worked so hard and there were only three months left for his finals. He was working for his dream with full dedication and wanted to achieve it at any cost. He cut off his meetings with everyone for three months and got lost in fulfilling his dreams. He didn't even meet Ruby. Ruby tried to contact him a lot but he didn't answer her any calls and messages. Three months passed and the day of Ayaan's interview came. Ruby called him to wish good luck but still, he didn't answer.

Finally, Ayaan passed his interview and was selected as an IPS officer. He was very happy and wanted to share his immense happiness with Ruby. He called her but his call didn't get a response. He thought that Ruby was angry with him. To make Ruby happy again, Ayaan decided to give her a surprise on her birthday that was on the next day. At 12:00 a.m he woke up and left his home to meet Ruby but as he opened the door he was astonished seeing Ruby standing in front of him. He became so happy and wished her a very happy birthday. Ayaan took Ruby to the terrace and told her about his interview and selection and he appologized for his past behaviour. They both continued to talk for three hours.

Suddenly Ayaan's phone rang and he went downstairs to pick the call. When he answered the call, he started shivering and had goosebumps. His eyes got filled with tears and he didn't know how to react. Ruby's mother was on call and she told Ayaan that Ruby has died yesterday. She was suffering from Blood Cancer and that's why she wanted to spend the last three months of her life with Ayaan happily and that's why she kept on contacting him. On the day of his interview, Ruby was counting her last breaths and wanted to listen to Ayaan's voice for the last time. It was for the last time she called him and died after he disconnected the call.

Ayaan's world got shattered after the call. He was in intense pain. He threw his phone and hurried to the terrace. He searched for Ruby but didn't find her there. He screamed out so loud and repent for not answering Ruby's call. The promises that they both took to spend their whole life with each other were finished because Ruby was no more. The girl with whom Ayaan was talking to was Ruby's soul who came to bid a goodbye to Ayaan. Though Ruby died, Ayaan's love for Ruby didn't come to an end. She was always with her. He didn't marry for his entire life and lived with the sweet memories he had with Ruby. Though Ruby and Ayaan were very far from each other their souls remain connected with each other.
