The Elephant, Lion and Dogs

Once I was told a story. It was the story of lions, dogs and Elephants. The Story goes like this.

Once the entire world was in lockdown. Everyone’s movement was restricted to human survival activities only. It was due to a virus transmitting from human to human. Since humans started the lockdown for their survival, they never thought about the animals.

Well for those animals who were living in the jungle, their hunting territory increased. Now they were roaming on the roads as well as in the lakes freely. They were reclaiming their old kingdoms. They rejoiced like never before.

However, there was another set of animals. Human intervention and expansion into the jungles somehow benefitted them. This second set of animals found themselves in the comfort of human service. Humans provided them food timely, they had built modern shelters which protected the animals from rain, storm, heat, unknown species, or any other frequent natural disaster. Lions were provided with good meat, on the other hand, elephants were also provided with occasional fruits & Vegetables but they mostly remain on the grass. Unlucky dogs did not even find a room. The world called such places Zoo, Circus, etc.

So when lockdown began, Humans could not provide them food anymore. So they decided to let them free into the jungle. In one of the zoos in Bengal, there were 10 lions and 5 elephants. The animals were tracked through GPS devices with cameras so that when the lockdown is lifted authorities can track them and bring them back to the zoo.

Within a month, 7 out of 10 lions died but all 5 Elephants survived. The dogs that were denied access to the zoo transformed into wild dogs. At the time when lions & elephants were provided comfort, dogs built their hunting skills. They created themselves into the beast who could defeat anyone.

Elephants survived because even after being offered all the comforts they knew they were trapped in Jails. They were so wise that they kept their basic requirements minimum. When they went out of the zoo they were able to find grass easily.

It was the Lions who got used to served meat that they forgot to hunt. They were killed by the wild dogs.

Ask yourself who are you? Lion, Elephant, or the dogs?

Pause for a moment, answer it only then read forward.

When the story ended, I asked a question.

“What happened to the 3 lions who survived?”

They became the undisputed king of the jungle in their territories.

They never forget that they are the lions not even when meat was served to them. They were always looking for an opportunity to break the shackles. Unlike the lions who remained forever in the jungle, they don’t even dwell on the idea of comfort of served meat. They unleashed the beast in them. They were mentally ready every day to roar into the jungles. So when the day came they did.

“If you think you are a lion in the cage, focus on the lion, not the Cage.”

The wild dogs are better than normal dogs, even better than a caged lion who is used to comfort.

Whereas Elephants & Lions are born elephants & Lions. No one can be like them by working hard.

An elephant is wise and always in peace. He would never trade peace for power. He never wants to face the crisis of being extinct. So they keep their materialistic desires low and prefer peace and live anonymously forever. They follow matriarchy and show the one way of living in this world.

The dogs' lives depend on their hard work, but they can never reach the extreme. Neither can they beat a beast lion, nor can they live in peace like the elephants. They represent the majority.

But the lion can never find peace in anonymity. They have to pursue their destiny. Mere survival may be good for other species but not for them. They have to be either the king of the jungle or perish. There is no other way to be happy for them.

So if you are a lion trapped in the cage, you can never forge yourself like others. They may find happiness in that but you can find happiness only in realizing your destiny.
