The Bus Is Missed Again
The Bus Is Missed Again
Drawing the curtains and letting the sunlight flood in, is same as scrapping the burnt pans and cleaning them. This is no different from pulling the blankets off the lazily sleeping kids who are hugging it tightly on wintery mornings.
Half an hour of requesting, then screaming and finally raving, all these tricks seem to have turned futile.
The water boiling for tea, on the other hand, has already dried in the kettle. Thus four cups of water has reduced to one. Actually mother has forgotten about it because she is busy settling the quarreling kids. There is a long queue outside the washroom and constant banging on the door is an irritating dad. The two washrooms remain abandoned till the clock strikes 7, and soon after that, all the three kids want to occupy it almost at the same time. While the two elder sisters go to the two washrooms, the third one being the youngest keeps banging the door shouting and disturbing.
The loud sound of washing machine and the mixer in the kitchen is adding more noise to the chaos. Daddy's shaving kit is missing and his screams are heard by the neighbours too. It is discovered that the elder one had been using the razor to shave her arms. Furious, dad's shoutings are supported by mom who has left the pressure cooker whistling in the kitchen and j
oined dad to teach the girls a lesson.
Meanwhile the milk has boiled over. It has fallen off the pan. The water has finished in the tank and father has to run down to check the motor while little brother half-naked, fully wet, has shampooed his head and is looking like a king adorning a huge crown.
The maid, who has come late today immediately pushes everyone aside, as she quickly wants to sweep and mop before doing dishes. Father complains that last week she had broken two expensive cups and now too she is banging the plates.
She has become an expert in banging things. Mother does not want to take any chance by offending her because if she does so, there are chances that the maid would not turn up the next morning and it would directly mean that she will have to complete the chores alone.
She is seen smiling at the maid and avoiding her stupid tantrums.
Meanwhile, the school bus is honking at the gate and there..... there it is.....Ah! It has left the stop. Kids are seen running behind the bus. Poor dad is kicking to start the old scooter, to drop kids to school and mother is running behind the scooter with three tiffin boxes in her hand. Dad looks at her scornfully who is wearing a dirty nighty. Mom smiles sheepishly. Today again the kids have missed the bus.
