Talent Matters

So many were born with a silver spoon but I was born with a wooden spoon, in Trenches.

I always feel happy when am with my friend, Tony, we are close friends, all we do together is play and eat, children of the same age as we were going to school but that didn't concern us, so far we've eaten, we have nothing to lose.

I was well known in my area as a playful, funny and dull boy, I love making people laugh, everything about me is just about laughter, if I smile, people laugh, and my cry also sounds funny in the ears of some. I love to be a comedian but will my mom accept that?

Tony was a talented boy to me, he loves drawing a lot, even if it is nonsense but I do love his drawings, he started with drawing a stick man and making it as comics, it was actually great fun reading his comics, but gradually he improve in his drawings, her mom always encourages him whenever he drew, that make him more expert in the drawing.

I love watching 'Shanks comics' comedy, he is very funny and creative, he seems to be my role model, he is a rich and famous man, I wish to be like him.

After some years, Tony was sent to Art school to study and know more about Arts and creativity.

After secondary school, I decided to stop schooling and start creating funny reels, but my mom go against my wish.

"How crazy are you to stop schooling and decided to waste your time on silly things" my mom shouted against me"don't you know that those that are not education cannot be successful", she thought I was lazy and trying to avoid school but I was definitely chasing my dream to be a famous Comedian.

I told my dad about my dream to become a comedian but he sat me down for some advice.

"I didn't go against your dream but posting your funny reels and videos on Tik Tok and other social media can't make you rich," said my father"if I see your videos on TikTok or Instagram, the only thing I can do to impress you is to react or comment, can that bring food on your table?"

My father told me that those rich comedians are already rich before they start comedy.

"You need to plan a good future for yourself before you decide to be a comedian" My father concluded.

I was motivated by my dad's words, and I decided to furthermore in my education, my mom forced me to study medicine and become a doctor.

"Your uncle is in Lekki (Lagos), he has three houses and he's a doctor" My mom started counting those that are doctors and rich, she believe that everyone that study medicine will be rich.

I have no other choice than to follow her wish, I went to university and studied medicine, but still, I don't stop creating funny videos on Instagram because I have at least twenty followers.

During my second semester in the Uni. I'm already famous in the school, I have a lot of friends that we create videos together and also many students were watching my videos.

I become honoured by some students, some choose me as the best comedian ever.

"Will you love to participate in my father's birthday show" Said Clara, Her father was a rich Politician in Nigeria.

I was shocked when I heard from her that my role model Shanks is also coming to the party to crack some jokes with other famous comedians.

Clara negotiates with her Dad and he agrees to call her to the show and also he promises to pay her the same amount as the other famous comedians, with no discrimination.

I went to the night party to crack some jokes for them, it was my first time, I feel so scared but to my surprise, the way people were laughing at my jokes seemed somehow strange to me, even some nearly fainted while laughing, I was so amazed when my role model Shanks clapped for me in an excited way, everyone was so excited

"You are too good" they started telling me when leaving the stage, after I left the stage, so many rich, wealthy people called me and asked for my number.

"I will call you to my party"

Some of them who see themselves to big to collect my number dropped their card, "Come to my house, I love your jokes"

So lucky, Shanks came to me and give me a handshake, I feel so special.

I never thought I will be so honoured like this, I forget about schooling after the performance at the Party, I become so busy, going from one show to another show.

My mom was so shocked when I went back home with a Lamborghini (The latest model).

"Sorry for saying this Mom, I'm no more schooling"

Then she realises that Talent Matters.

Although Education is the Key to success, you can't get the key to success if you neglect your Talent.
