Maya got hitched to Raja in a hush-hush ceremony attended by a handful of people. The new couple had no iota of conversation before they plunged into the ocean of marriage. Two individuals decided to drive the boat of a relationship blindly without deciphering the personalities of each other. Materialistic in nature, Maya enjoyed making frequent trips abroad; she loved attending all the family functions because she could adorn herself with ornaments to manifest her beauty to the public. Being pampered all her life by her parents, she couldn't digest someone refusing to attend to her needs. She used to create an uproar if someone rejected her plan or quelled her desires.

One day, Maya urged her husband to make a trip to Switzerland to quaff the magnanimous beauty rendered by the lovely country. As they were a newly married couple, Raja gave his nod. Subsequently, they flew to Switzerland. Maya had never understood the value of money because she got what she wanted all her life. She kept on asking her husband to buy expensive ornaments and other accessories. Raja felt as if her demands would never recede irrespective of the expensive accessories he bought for her. He simply didn't want to set in motion any argument because it was their first trip post-marriage. Raja was not from an affluent family and he understood the value of money very early in his life. He never wasted money buying expensive gifts or other accessories so he didn't feel comfortable when he coughed up excess money to satisfy his wife's demands. He agreed to don silence instead of questioning his wife. It was the most expensive trip he had ventured on all his life. Eventually, they came back to India.

Maya stood in front of the mirror and embellished her neck with exorbitant neckpieces. She felt the golden ornaments complementary her overall beauty. Her proclivity towards cosmetics seemed to be perennial. She told her husband to take close to hundred pictures which nearly frustrated him but he stifled all his bottled-up emotions. Maya uploaded all her photos on social media and kept on picking up the phone to see how many like she garnered. She asked her husband to cook for himself as well as for her while she made merry with social media. Raja thought how long would he be able to put up with a woman who has started becoming his nightmare. Eat, sleep, apply cosmetics, attend functions, waste tons of money and immerse in social media. She had indirectly mired him in a lifestyle he didn't like one bit. He grappled with her behaviour for a week, and slowly but surely his patience started losing its steam.

Just a week back, Maya visited Switzerland and now she asks her husband to make a trip to Argentina. Her husband has to work day and night to make ends meet and this lady didn't even know how much money was required to go abroad. Raja who had reluctantly put up with her all this while refused to exercise his patience this time. Consequently, he raised his voice for the first time.

"Do you know how much money is needed to go abroad? Have I built a money plant to take you abroad every week?"

"Oh, dear husband! You must fulfil your wife's needs. It is your obligation and you must align to your obligations," she responded.

"I haven't written in any affidavit that I would fulfil all your needs," he retorted.

Unable to control herself, she broke the flower vase kept on the table.

"How dare you speak over me? The husband must follow his wife's words. You seem to be breaching that policy."

"Madam, I am not your slave to follow whatever you say. The relationship is not about the wife control her husband. Your parents seemed to have nourished you in fool's paradise. I work day and night to earn money and I cannot always waste my hard-earned money on useless abroad trips."

"My parents never raised their voice against me and you are shouting at me just a week after our marriage. You showed your true colours."

"Try to understand my problem. I am not a billionaire here and you better learn to adjust with us."

The next day, Maya scampered off to meet her college friends in a five-star restaurant. She had promised to give them an exorbitant party. All ate to their heart's content amidst the funny jokes they cracked with each other. Maya showed her Switzerland photos to her friends who certainly felt envious of her. She also told that she would very soon go to Argentina and has planned to visit all the countries in her lifetime. No one had any idea about how much quantity of food they had feasted upon. Under the pretext of being hungry, they had gobbled up tons of food only to bulge their gluttonous stomach. Maya had no cash in her handbag, so she removed golden neck pieces and handed them over to the restaurant owner. She came back to the house late at night and let out a burp. Her husband noticed the absence of jewellery on her neck so he questioned where she lost the jewellery. She told that she had handed that over to the restaurant owner because of the exorbitant bill they had got. If that wasn't enough, she ordered him to soon book a ticket to Argentina or else she would do it on her own by pledging the remaining jewellery. He warned her not to wear any pieces of jewellery hereafter and also vehemently denied booking a ticket to Argentina. Surged with anger, she hit her mobile phone hard on the ground which only blasted itself to smithereens. He had enough of being privy to her unacceptable acts and decided to stage a talk with her parents. She came as a tsunami in his otherwise beautiful life interspersed with patience and happiness. The relationship seemed to have curbed his joy and it had already developed cracks showing signs of collapse. He could have weathered the obstacles but this was a storm that refuses to calm down. He feared he could become a beggar soon if he puts up with this lady who is on a money-wasting spree. Raja juxtaposed his life before and after marriage and felt a significant difference that had robbed his peace. To add to his woes, insomnia had clung to his brain making him sleep-deprived. The onslaught of his wife's thoughts refused to subside and continued to wreak havoc in his life.

A rendezvous materialized between Raja and Maya's parents and the latter promised that they would speak with their daughter to ensure she adjusts to him instead of going her own way. A seed of relief got planted in his mind which made him believe that his wife would make amends and would adjust with him. Maya's parents did speak to their daughter but the latter did not budge from their advice leaving a hint of derailment in the relationship. They had never raised their voice against their daughter and even now they looked helpless and failed to fulfil the promise they made to their son-in-law.

To rub salts to his wounds, Maya pledged jewellery and booked a ticket to Argentina but this time she had booked tickets for her friends, not her husband. Despite repeated requests, she had failed to understand his problems and now the situation had spiralled out of control. He thought conversation with her parents would have brought her back the track but it proved otherwise. He has had enough of her idiocy. His stirred emotions overflowed and he confronted her.

"How dare you mortgage my mother's jewellery and book a ticket abroad? Are you planning to make me bankrupt?" he fumed

"Your bankruptcy has got nothing to do with my life. I want to live a posh life, not a pathetic life. You must provide me with everything I demand because you are my husband."

"Are you out of your mind? Why are you talking the same bullshit over and over again?"

"What sort of a husband you are? You are habitual to picking up a fight with me. You are not entitled to misbehave with your wife. You endeavour to assure a happy life for your wife. If you are not capable of that why did you marry me?"

"That's the biggest mistake I have ever made in my life. Had I known about your personality, certainly I would have dodged the marriage bullet. You don't have basic common sense on how to drive the relationship forward. You don't care attitude reflects your selfish mentality."

"I am done with you, boss! Let's file a divorce and settle the issue once and for all. I don't want to waste time with useless hypocrites. I want to be with someone capable of satisfying all my desires."

"Your desires are endless. Trust me nobody can put up with a selfish woman like you."

"Shut up! You monkey. Get the divorce papers. I will sign and throw it right on your face."

The conflict-ridden relationship went for a toss and divorce was on cards. Raja felt it was better to divorce her than to become bankrupt and suffer. Subsequently, divorce transpired despite her parents repeated requests to avert it. All their pleadings fell on deaf ears as their daughter had taken a clear stand not to deal with Raja anymore. Remorseless, Maya went back to her parent's house.

Maya's parents raised their voices for the first time against their daughter who couldn't fathom what transpired. She warned her parents to marry her to a rich businessman so that she could spend the rest of her life swimming in the luxurious ocean. She compelled her old parents to do all the tasks for her while she enjoyed the social media world. She used their money to make a trip to Argentina where she joined her friends to make merry with her life. In seven days of the trip, she spilt crores of money drinking alcohol and indulging in drug consumption. She came back home and sipped beer in front of her parents. She abused her parents for being old and impotent. Distraught, her parents committed suicide. Her neighbours cursed her for abetting her parent's suicide. She picked her chappals and gestured to slap them if they try to eavesdrop on her life. She happened to see Raja living a peaceful life which irked her even more so she decided to put him in misery through black magic. She won an appointment to meet a wizard and she asked him to ensure her ex-husband suffers all his life bereft of peace and happiness. Gripped by jealousy, she had taken the worst decision to spoil someone's life. She desperately wanted to see Raja in pain and she imagined him falling to her feet, begging for mercy. She believed all her imagination would transform into reality but the spurious wizard had conned her to fill his pockets. The reality aroused her anger but she didn't realize that her negative mind had conspired to slip her into misery. Now she had become alone and to add insult to injury, her parents had secretly sold all their properties to the childcare trust. This news was indeed hard for her to digest because she always relied on others for her needs and now she is left with nothing and is supposed to send for herself. Nobody respected her and even her friends called it quits with her friends when she begged for help. Her happy days are nipped in the bud and the miserable days gained significance. She was kicked out of the house as she wasn't the owner of the abode anymore, her plea fell on deaf ears and her neighbours felt she deserved the punishment. If that was not enough, she got arrested for drug supply and consumption against the law of the country which further dented her image. All hell broke loose as she gained entry into prison.

A real transformation happened while spending her time in jail. When you are robbed of everything that is when you begin introspection which mirrors your own personality and makes you understand the value of life. Maya was grief-stricken by her actions which led to the accumulation of cursings. She repented her action to resort to black magic to snatch someone else's peace. She felt ashamed to have tried illegal drugs which proved to be her downfall. The plethora of thoughts appeared out of nowhere in her idle time to rob her of peace. The time spent in jail brought a change in her life. After getting released, she began cooking for the hungry people and felt relieved feeding their tummies.
