Phantom
Phantom
I was walking in a low, dark tunnel. There were eerie noises all around me - screaming, banging, wailing. Bats hung upside down from the cave. I shivered. Then I saw a hooded figure right in front of me. The phantom...the phantom...
I sat up straight on the bed and wiped the beads of sweat that had appeared on my forehead. I had been getting the same dream, no... actually nightmare, for a week now. Try as I might, I could not make out why the tunnel seemed familiar.
During breakfast, I suddenly remembered. The tunnel had made the news headlines last month because of a mysterious railway accident that had happened while the train was passing through the tunnel. There had been over 20 casualties, but there was one body that was never found. Anyway, I had to get rid of my fear for the nightmares to stop. I had no intention of worrying about my parents so I decided to visit the cave at night when everyone was asleep. I would just go there and take a quick look around to reassure myself.
I set out at around 10 p m on my bicycle. It was almost half an hour's ride from my home. When I finally reached, I got out of my cycle, took a deep breath and entered. Immediately, the darkness swallowed me and it took a moment for my eyes to adjust to it. After I had made sure that it was just another tunnel, I turned around to walk out. I walked a few steps and saw that the mouth of the cave was sealed. Strange! I was pretty sure that I had come in this way only. I was panicking fast. Okay, maybe I had just taken a wrong turn, I tried to calm myself.
I was walking around in a daze when I saw it. The hooded figure. The phantom. I started backing away but tripped over a stone and fell. I tried to get back up, but it was too late. The phantom towered over me and all I could see was the darkness of his hood.
He now controlled me. And he will control everyone who has read this.
