Own your shit

We all need to own what we do in our lives. You need to stand up and own who you are, what choices you make, you need to own your shit.

In the end we will all be judged on what we've done here on earth. Eventually you will have to own your shit one way or another so you might as well do it now. Apologize for your behavior, make amends to people you hurt. Try to make up for the hurt and pain you have caused others. We are all here to learn lessons but in order to learn the lesson you must first admit your wrongdoings.

I write this blog every day, and I put myself out there to be judged every day by strangers. I own each and every mistake I make and then I place it out here for you to see and judge.

Look, I owned that I had a problem with drugs and alcohol.

I owned that I stayed in a horrible marriage.

I owned that I had an emotional affair for five years during that marriage.

I owned that I fell in love with a man who wouldn't or couldn't love me back as soon as I was divorced.

I owned that I was taken in by someone who used, lied and cheated on me because I was so desperate for love and then I wrote about it for the whole world to see. These are my mistakes and I fully stand up and take responsibility for them.

You can't blame people for your mistakes. You can't say because I got caught, it was all someone else's fault. You can't say it's because of my horrible childhood. No, if you want to grow and change, you must grow up and deal with the aftermath of what you have done. It is only then you will be able to change, when you truly own your shit.

I remember years ago being with my girls in New York and I was driving their Aunt Pam's car. We drove it into the garage and opened the hatch not knowing the ceiling wasn't high enough.

I heard a sickening sound and we got out to see what we did. There was a dent in the back of her trunk, my girls were young and said "Mommy don't tell Aunt Pam, she will get mad, if we don't tell she won't know we did it"

I said "No, but I will, I did this, and I have to own this"

I marched them upstairs to apologize and offer to pay to fix it. We came to find out the dent was already there as they also forgot the garage was too low.

I taught them to do the right thing, to own what you do, and to apologize and take responsibility to make things right. We grow, we learn, we change and hopefully it's for the better but unless you're willing to step up and deal with your issues, you will never go on to your next level.

So today my friends remember you need to own up. Own your shit because trust and believe me, it's not so bad. At least you're not doing it in front of thousands of people like I do each and every day. Then you need to forgive yourself and let that shit go.That is what I am doing each and every time I screw up, I own my shit, I ask what is the lesson I am supposed to be learning from this? Then I make amends, forgive myself and I let it go.

Life is too short for regrets! Live it big, Live it large, Live it to the fullest and Live it with a clear heart, and a clear conscience. Own your shit!
