Niharika had recently completed her last 12th board examination. She came back home. Her mother who was cooking a meal for her only daughter rushed out of the kitchen and asked

Mom:- Niha.. how was your geography exam? How was the paper? Was it easy or difficult?

Niharika:- Mom.. let me breathe first. Yes, my paper went well. Though a little lengthy it went well for me.

Mom:- Thank god. I was wondering all day long.. about the paper and all..but happy to hear that it went well for you.

Niharika:- Mom. I am feeling hungry.. what have you made for lunch?

Mom:- your favorite roti and dal makhani and salad as a side dish and fruit custard as desert

Niharika:- ohh mom thank you so much. you are indeed the best mom in this world.

Mom:- and my Niha is also the best daughter.

Niharika shared a very deep and friendly bond with her mother. Being an introvert she could never make many friends in school but her mother was someone with whom she was the most comfortable to share everything. Around her mom, Niharika felt safe and protected. After the death of Niharika's father (Sunil Das) her mother was mentally broken down, Niharika was then 16 months old. Sunil had died of a car accident when he had gone to handle a client of his in Shimla. After his death, Sulekha( Niharika's mother) decided to start a small cafe so that she can earn her and Niharika's living. The days were tough. There was no one of her who came forward to help. In the absence of a support system, she used to run her small cafe taking Niharika in her arms. She used to cook meals herself and when the customers would be busy having their food, She would feed Niharika. Half of the days she would skip her meals because there were always someone or the other in the cafe. Being a wonderful chef her cafe eventually became famous. Day by day her cafe's name started spreading in all parts of Kolkata. People from different parts of this city came to taste her special dish - "dim er payesh" her cafe is now one of the best cafes in the city. She has chefs to cook for the cafe and even waiters and a manager. The tough days are now over. The bright sun has risen up and the dark nights have left their lives. Niharika has grown up too. She is brilliant in her academics and today she has ended up with her boards examination now a long wait till the results are out.

Niharika:- Ohhh. Finally. I will be able to dance and sing around.. the pressure of the boards seemed like it had snatched away the smile from our faces. But now it's time to dance, song and enjoy

She put up her headphones and started listening and grooving to the beats of her favorite songs.

Niharika was a very good singer and her beauty was unexplainable. She was a fairy from heaven. It seemed like Rapunzel has come up from the world of Disney to Kolkata. Her hair was up till her thighs. It was so thick and beautiful. But she was never proud of herself. Her mind was always in her studies. She did not understand anything except studies and songs. She even did not like having a boyfriend where other girls of her age have boyfriends. To be honest she loved all these but not at the age where studies are still like a shadow with her. From a very small age, she had decided to be an IAS where she can do something for mankind. So the board exam results matter the most now because if your results are good then only you can get a good college and a good college means good facilities, good education. So, there was nothing left for her to do without waiting.

Finally, the day had come for her results.

Niharika:- ohh... I am feeling nervous. Mom, I can't take this pressure. I am feeling restless. What if I don't get good marks? What if I don't get the college I want? What if---

Sulekha:- Niha. Niha.. don't worry. Take a deep breath in.. out.. in.. out.. in.. out.. feeling ok?

Niharika:- yes mom..ok..ok.. but mom I am tense.

Sulekha:- I know my Niha will rock the exam.. don't worry. Ok tell me Niha.. how were all your exams?

Niharika:- History went well.. even geography went well. English, 2nd language... Ya, all went well.

Sulekha:- Then why are you tensed? You have done well. You also know that.. then why are you being so worried.. your result will be good only.. I know my Niha has worked so hard. Hard work always pays.. remember I taught you this when you were small?

Niharika:- yes mom.

Sulekha:- open the website Niha.. it's 2 minutes to two.

Niharika opens the website.. fills in her credentials.

Niharika:- Mom. I am closing my eyes.. you say me my percentage.

Niharika clicks on the 'go' button.. the page of her result appears. Her mother is shocked.
