Part – 1

It was around eleven at night. In the dim yellow light of the room, the ceiling fan kept spinning endlessly. She lay silently on the bed, staring at it without blinking. For the past hour, her eyes had remained fixed on the fan, as if its rotating blades were pulling her into a deep silence.

Strange thoughts crossed her mind. For a moment, she wished everything would stop — the pain, the restlessness, the endless noise inside her head. But the very next second, she stopped herself. She did not want to die. She only wanted a little relief from the pain.

For the past few days, she had barely eaten anything. Hunger itself seemed angry with her. Her mother would forcefully place a plate in front of her, but after two bites, she would lose all interest. Now she had started fearing food, fearing sleep, fearing loneliness… and more than anything, fearing her memories.

Her family often asked,
“What happened? Why are you so quiet these days?”

Every time, she forced a small smile and softly replied,
“I’m just not feeling well…”

But deep inside, she knew it wasn’t her body that was sick. It was her soul that had grown tired.

She was one of those people whom circumstances never allow to cry openly. So instead of flowing out through tears, her pain kept collecting silently inside her. Sometimes she felt her mind had already surrendered to the sadness. It needed rest. But her heart refused to let go of the pain.

She feared that if she let go of it, she might lose the person she had loved the most. And if she continued holding onto it, she might lose herself instead.

Her life was stuck somewhere between those two fears.

At the office, she still laughed like before. She talked to everyone, attended meetings, even cracked jokes sometimes. No one could guess that the smile on her face was only a mask. But the moment she returned home, all her strength disappeared.

As soon as she entered her room, silence consumed her again. Holding her phone in her hands, she would spend hours looking at his pictures. Pictures from his new marriage. His smile. His new life.

Every picture broke something inside her all over again.

She switched off the phone and closed her eyes. But memories do not disappear so easily. She remembered his touch. His eyes. Every little moment they had spent together. His presence. His words.

All of it had become a part of her life.

This was not the first time her heart had broken. People had come and gone before too. But every single time, she had loved with all her heart. She never understood half-hearted love. For her, a relationship meant equality, honesty, and complete companionship.

But people were often afraid of the depth of her love. They wanted her, but only on their own terms. Only as much love as felt easy for them. Only as much commitment as felt comfortable.

And this time, the same thing happened again.

When she had asked him,
“If you loved me, then why did you marry someone else?”

He had answered in a calm voice,
“I had no choice…”

That was the exact moment something inside her shattered. She ended the relationship that very day. No fights. No drama. No noise.

But ending a relationship does not end love.

Her heart was still stuck there.

Once again, she looked at the ceiling fan. It kept spinning continuously — just like her life. Looking normal from the outside, while slowly breaking apart from within.

To be continued in the next part…
