The Milestone

When a child learns about something. it is granted that the child will apply the knowledge in life.

Meera was a girl who used to be quiet and seems like a passive learner in meetings. One day when she reaches home, she sees two strangers were sitting with her parents. After a few words, the mother asked Meera to pack her bag, she is going to town, these two gentlemen are offering a job to her.

She was shocked but don’t have the courage to question her parents. She sat behind the bike with two men. In a few minutes a milestone crossed, It was showing 15 Km ( Braginiya) Last village of India, Border village of India and Nepal.

She asked, where are we going? no answer……The bike was running on the road.

She, ask to stop the bike but, nothing happened. She started shouting and screaming. The biker had to stop, people gathered they ask the question, biker said that she is mentally ill, we are taking her for the treatment. Bike start again. The second milestone crossed 5km ( Braginiya). She knew that if she crossed the border, she won’t see her family again.

This was the only thought she had in her mind and she jumped from the running bike. Starts running towards the man who was cutting the bamboo. She was shivering and trying to speak. “They kidnaped me taking me to Nepal”, she shouted. The man runs behind them they left everything including the bike and ran away.

She narrates the whole incident and the man took her to the village and contacted her parents with the help of Local leaders. She safely reached home.

What if, Meera, would had not get the information about human trafficking through meeting and training? She could have been just another girl in missing data of government.
