My Life With Colostomy

I am Sangeetha, experiencing abnormal life post my normal delivery. My age is 27, I delivered my baby on October 2018, luckily normal delivery which every women wishes for. I did all the exercises, food control and all house work to get normal delivery. So many women don’t know what are the complications in normal delivery than c section which cannot be said outside.

On the day of my normal delivery, I had a labour of more than 48 hours, due to doctor's carelessness. The doctor who did normal delivery had to do episiotomy third stage which is they cut more deep to bring baby out. Every doctor needs a surgeon to stitch post-delivery but for saving money or time my doctor herself stitched and that made my life worse. 

The next day of delivery I was passing gas through my vagina, when asked them, they said it’s normal and happens to all women post normal delivery, we have nothing to argue to doctors than trusting their words, the same day I was getting stools through vagina, when asked sisters and doctors they coolly said it may be discharge out of stomach. Third day I couldn’t walk and I kept getting gas and stools through vagina which made a nightmare in my life. We checked with doctor, she said I would have stressed so stitches were removed, how can it happen within a day when I m taking complete rest, she hid her mistake and consoled us, it happens sometimes and she asked me to keep napkins for stools, within a month the stitches will close itself. Trusting those words we went home, every day I used to change 5 to 8 pads till 2 months, I couldn’t feed my baby, I couldn’t hold him nor walk or be social. I was in bed, toilet and bed this was my life. 2nd month went for check up, she blamed me I didn't take care so it caused fistula and it will go with minor stitches. They took scan, it showed a major rectovaginal fistula and anal sphincter damage because of the doctor who didn't do proper normal delivery. That’s the last I visited to that hospital.

I was taken to the other hospital where that changed my entire life, I was severely affected by RV fistula and Anal Sphincter damage because of the doctor who did normal delivery wrong, they clearly said they hid what they did to us, the new hospital doctor told me strictly I cannot go to motion until I recover completely from RV fistula and anal damage. 

Because of those doctors carelessness, I had undergone 4 surgeries including colostomy bag where they took Intestine out of my stomach and kept a bag for motion, life was worse. At least we had medical insurance for 50% so we could manage. How about poor women, they can’t even say outside not clearly because of these careless people.

I had gone through a lot, I cannot be normal like before, my motion comes through my stomach, I have to clean it all the time. I couldn’t feed my baby because of plenty surgeries. But one thing I am happy seeing my baby growing healthy and good, that’s the only thing which keeps me going forward.
