Mother and Love
Mother and Love
Who was your first love?
She asked me!
I looked at her like a sunflower and smiled,
She looked away as a proud rose
with a bragging smile on her face,
I turned and gazed at the beautiful sunset,
I closed my eyes for few moments,
a face with a heavy smile appeared
The weight of decades that have gone by,
And she still embraces me like a child,
She ignores the biggest of my mistakes,
When I came home boozed up or with the stoned red eyes,
The most liberal of humankind,
She is my mother
There is no one of her kind
She is the kindest of human and bravest among warriors, She has lit the chullha
Cooked us food,
I saw her hands burning
while lighting our home with smiles,
For me, she is the artist,
She is the god,
Yes, my dear My mother was my first love,
She is my heart.
And maybe this is why we humans don't care much about mothers because we make them Gods. And the Gods are always taken for granted. We only wish for them, don't give them much, although we try our best to care for them. But hey! So you think we can ever do enough for them? No! of course not. So it was my mothers birthday. I called her on the phone. "Happy birthday Mommy!" I said. She did not remember her birthday, but she never forgets mine. And I confess, I did forget her birthday once when I was a teenager. I felt bad! Because little gestures matter. "Mom! I wish you all the happiness in the world," I continued. She replied with the most beautiful smile "Beta! Mere bache kuch rahe bas isse jyada kya chahiye," I realised that they want nothing in life from their children. They wish for their children's wishes to come true. And that's their happiness. The most we can do for our parents is the little gestures of appreciation. That is all they want from us. That little heart emoji that you send to your mother makes her day. Yet, Emojis you sent to lots of others, were mostly ignored and unvalued.

" Yes, My mother is my first love," I looked at Pihu and said.
"I couldn't have expected anyone else," she replied with a sugary smile on her face. "Let's go on a walk. It's your favourite sunset."
