Meenakshi -The Fish-Shaped Eyes

During ancient times, the women who had very beautiful eyes were named Meenakshi – the eyes which were shaped like that of a meen-means fish- dense eyelids and lengthy stretch around the corner. It was usually told women who was had these shaped eyes had very attractive personalities and they were very determined in their goals and job. However, they crave authority and would generally be very curious by nature.

Meenakshi, a 10^th standard girl was preparing for her board exams from St.Mary’s Convent school from Pune. She was much tensed as her exams were very near and she had hardly sometimes round the year to finish her preparations. On one of her days to the tuition's on her scooty she met with a bike accident. This led her to be hospitalized for a period of 2 weeks and she was still not fine and walking. The ankle was broken. The family was in tears and so her friends. They tried every bit of help to make her walk again but it was nearly becoming impossible. Meenakshi was very good in her studies. Every day she cried.

There was a young doctor, Vikas- an intern who was practicing after his MBBS in the same hospital. He used to accompany Dr. Devansh who was looking after Meenakshi’s therapy. Vikas always used to be curious about Meenakshi’s case and observed the family’s state every day. He wondered what can cure the young girl’s health and she be back on her life again. He never spoke a word though and continued her medications as per Dr Devansh.

The next morning though Vikas came with some yellow flowers and told Meenakshi that she had the most beautiful eyes and that it was shaped like that of a fish. They sparkled. They talked. They smiled. And when she will grow up in college and later she won’t be requiring any make-up to make it any beautiful. Vikas continued these words to Meenakshi for an entire week. And to the surprise of Dr Devansh and her family, she was recovering much better and there were signs of progress in the ankle. Dr. Devansh advised to start physiotherapy for a week and then Meenakshi should be all set for her exams.

Meenakshi was discharged after a week from the hospital. Vikas smiled that day.
