Mama's Boy

She smiled to herself as the ceremony progressed, she would soon turn from Miss To Missus. But the best part of her wedding was, she was marrying the love of her life, he had no objection to her going to work and his family was pretty progressive.

As she stepped into a new chapter, a new beginning in her life, she was over the moon, happy and content. Her in-laws supported more than anyone, there was no pressure on her to perform household chores or to cease going to work. They weren't of the interfering types, they let her spend all her time with their son.

Her perceptions faced a mild blow when her husband started insisting on having a baby almost immediately after marriage. Moreover, he claimed, it wasn't for him but for his parents. She wasn't all that ready, she wished to enjoy her newly married life thoroughly. But after a lot of deliberation, she yielded, realization dawning on her that everything wasn't as hunky dory as she had imagined.

They were blessed with a baby girl and they were all happy for her, but in less than a year, pressure started mounting on her, to have a second, a boy this time.

"If it was a boy, they wouldn't have insisted, but as our first is a girl, my parents want a boy." Her husband persuaded.

She sighed. It was the same everywhere. How much ever emancipated and modern everything looked, underneath, it was always the old ending to the new story.
