Love in the 21st Century

There she was in the physics lab, completely uninterested in the thermodynamics lecture; thus, looking past the window at the breathtakingly beautiful view. Daydreaming, was she? Thinking about how life would be if she would have someone in her life? Her daydreaming was interrupted by the bell and murmuring in the background caught her attention when she overheard her classmates talking about the guy they met over this dating app.

There she goes again, thinking to herself how she would never be on those overrated "dating apps". She was always the one to break the stereotypes by not going with the crowd. The evening passed, and she found her herself in her place of comfort, being overcome by thoughts of loneliness which made her download a dating app. Perplexed and completely unsure of what she was about to do, the girl who said would never be on one of those cliché dating apps found herself on one. Days passed as she decided to delete and install the app a few times in a day, fighting the battle within herself until one day she receives a ping, just when she was about to uninstall that app.

There she goes looking at the profile, completely wooed by the picture she sees. "Should I reply or not"? She thinks to herself. Finally, gathering all the courage she had, she ends up relying on the guy. Days passed, and they just couldn't stop talking. She was amazed at the comfort level she shared with him. Could he be the one? Or he's just good as a friend? Am I thinking too much, too early? These were the thoughts that were bombarding her mind when she receives another ping from him saying that he wanted to show her a video of a sibling. Well well well, the app doesn't support videos. "Is he indirectly asking for my number"? "Well, he ain't getting it so soon". "I gotta play hard to get,'' she thinks to herself.

More days passed by and they both feel the need to exchange numbers but then the problem arises, who goes first? Gathering enough courage, she goes on to tell him that she's bored with the app and wants to leave. To that, he asks her not to leave without letting him know. A day goes by.. and he ends up giving her his number. So, there goes a whole thread of conversations. Finally, both ended up uninstalling the app. Endless, sleepless nights and waking up with a crazy headache at work became a usual thing.

Planning about trips that they were both uncertain about. Having all the crazy talks about life and everything, but not talking about the one thing that they were both certain of- love. Will they ever meet? Will it work out? Well, who knows! It might or it might not but one thing we know and that is, "she who said would never be on one of those dating apps, ended up being on one". Thus, she ended up bowing down to the 21st-century love.
