Losing A Friendship
Losing A Friendship
Ahem's decision appeared utter nuisance. 'How can he do this to me? I was his best friend, and he didn't tell me.' Red hot Prathibha walked through the corridor of her college stamping her foot. Even through the lectures too, she couldn't concentrate. Her mind always dragged her to the same place where he said to her, 'Everything is not meant for you to know.' 'What is it that I cannot know? How can he say like that?' wailed Prathibha.
Her soul cried from within. She felt dejected. Losing her best friend was not just painful but even crushing and crippling at times. But she has no choice but to just drink the cup of sorrow without even wailing.
She always wanted her relationship to be meant, but touching Shem at this stage appeared devastating. So she chose to bear the pain herself but let him be comfortable. She shared her feelings with another entrusted friend and quietly analyzed every minute element of it. Assessing the sensitivity and seriousness of the situation she chose to act sensibly. It was difficult to take away her own concentration from Ahem, who was his life. So during the initial days, she would even break down into tears resisting herself from disturbing his peace. Wailing bitterly, missing him badly, and even feeling guilty often made her light from stress. She was a God-fearing girl and often prayed for the matters to be resolved peacefully. She also sought for positive signs and encouragement towards a healthy relationship. These all kept her spirit encouraged and going.
Days passed by and conversation between the two never happened souring their relationship even more. Throughout the college Ahem and Prathibha were known as twins because of their childish fights and then again reunion. But this time something is not very good. Everyone use to admire their true friendship and use to quote every time. But even though everything appeared difficult, she quietly sat closed her eyes and tried to recall how Ahem is. Ahem never lied to her, he always cared, he never left her alone. Even if things were not in her favor, she would hold on to these positives always. She believed they have cherished a good relationship and it's not going to sink so easily.
A year passed by but it did not resolve. Everyone was tensed but the matter was too serious to even initiate. Amidst this. Ahem stopped coming to college. Even after this too she believed there must be some reason for Ahem to behave this way.
Time passed by and she too graduated from college and joined a school as a teacher. On one parent teacher meeting, she happened to meet Ahem. The moment froze, eyes locked, silence filled the air. That was when Ahem spoke, 'How are you?' She quietly said, 'Good.' After finishing the formalities she said thank-you. Ahem said, 'You didn't ask why I did not write Ahem in the father's column?' 'I believe you must have a good reason for not telling me.' Quietly Ahem noded, 'Yes. Can we meet for a coffee some day.' 'Sure,' replied Prathibha.
