My eyes slowly opened. The first thing I saw was the breathtaking sky that was tinted with a soft lavender colour. I heard the soothing sound of the waves of the ocean crashing against each other. I could smell the tropical environment. I slowly stood up and found myself in a neatly knit frilly shirt and khaki jeans. My feet was bare and the sand felt rough against them. I quickly walked towards the purple-ish ocean which reflected the colour of the sky. As soon as my feet got a touch of the cold, harsh water, they inched backwards , but after a couple of tries i was adjusted with its temperature.

Soon I felt the loneliness, that my life was void of for these few minutes. My eyes scanned the area only to be disappointed. Any sort of life was nowhere to be seen.

My feet touched the sandy soil again and I sat there alone in this world wondering 'where I was' and 'why'.

As i pondered over those questions, my curiosity got the best of me and I went on to explore this world, on my own.

Nobody and nothing was there in this strange property. On my way I found a small hole among the dense forests which was hidden by creepers and crawlers. I moved them aside and revealed the new world in front me. With one look behind me, I started ambling forward and soon I was engulfed by this gorgeous view. There were huge trees in between two of which was a huge waterfall. The heavy sound of the water was delightful and the sight that I behold in front of me was ecstatic.

Not being able to hold my excitement, I ran towards the broad river that it had formed. This time the water felt a lot warmer and I spent hours in it. By this point my clothes were soaked, but weirdly that did not bother me at all. It was my first time- first time seeing the free sky, first time seeing a waterfall and first time having 'fun' , even though it was lonely , it was the best day of my non-existent life.

Shortly, my bones became aweary of the new environment and movements. I plopped down beside the river onto the green, lush meadow. I was panting heavily. This was all very new to me. This was what I had always dreamed of doing but never could...'I never could'...

I shut my eyes as I drifted into a deep slumber.

When I woke up next, it was morning again. It was the same that i had seen the previous day. I got started, after walking a couple of miles in search of food I found an orchard, it was cultivated with apples and oranges. I took a bite into one of the apple. It tasted way better than I could've ever imagined- it was juicy and better than anything I've ever tasted. After having a handful of them, I tried to find my way back. However , I ended up in a completly different place. This place looked like an abandoned kingdom. It looked dangerously beautiful. The broken down ruins were mesmerizing to watch and learn about. As I went more towards the core I heard noises and headed for the source. It was a huge balcony draped in the pink leaves of a nearby tree that had grown out. There were a number of birds crowding the vast tree. 'So this is what birds looked like?' -I wondered as I had only seen them in picture books. They looked so graceful it had me wondering if everything was so beautiful in this 'world'.

All I ever wanted was to explore this world...I knew the world was beautiful, it wasn't as dark , bleak and cold as my 'world'- the one that never failed to scare me.

Even if I loved it there, I wanted to discover more and went off on my 'adventure'.

Before long I came across an elegantly constructed bridge. It was surrounded by lavenders and the sweet aroma of the flowers filled the entire place . On reaching upto a certain height, I took a peek down at the river and found some little fishes swimming around. From the corner of my eye I noticed a small vintage cottage at the other end of the bridge. I picked up my pace because this world didn't fail to impress me and I was anxious about what were to come .

As soon as I was at a small distance from the cottage I could smell something delicious. I barged in through the door.

My eyes scanned the place thoroughly and I found it to be really comfortable. There was a small, stuffed couch which was layered by fuzzy, warm blankets. As soon as I enetered the kitchen my eyes lay on the table nearby- it had a cup of warm milk and soft , buttered bread. I gobbled the breads and washed them down with a huge gulp of milk. I proceeded to the couch to warm myself up and then it struck me...if something so materialistic could give me as much warmth as this, wouldn't it be so great everyday if i had a family , if I had a couple of people who'd always love me irrespective of my insecurities, If I had someone to make me breakfast every morning and give me hugs from time to time. I had never experienced human love and warmth but I really did want to- it sounded beautiful and made me want it more.

"Alex! ALEX!!!" - I heard someone call my name, they sounded furious. I then received a kick to the curb . The sudden pain made me curl up on the floor.

Now, When I opened my eyes I found nothing but the dark, bleak room that I was always kept in. Being abused -verbally and physically, being forced into doing labour, daily profanities and blows- I was used to all of that. It was all just my imagination, the feeling of freedom that I felt then , just vanished , I was still caged in this small, compressed room which I dont even know if I'll be able to escape. I'm happy nevertheless, I atleast got to feel it once...even if it was a fake one...I was  deluded..I'll never be able to escape their clutches.
