Jewel Thief
The two hitchhikers desperately waited to hitch a ride. Drenched in sweat, all they craved was the cool breeze of the car’s air-conditioned. ” Hey, I see a black van coming around the corner. It stopped, let’s go.” James, the green-eyed, blond hitchhiker raved. "Well then, let’s hurry boy," his companion Ria, a red-eyed and silver-haired girl said. After exchanging pleasantries, the driver veered the car off the dusty road and headed deeper into the forest. The hitchhikers were baffled at his exceptionally reckless driving. Swerving amongst the trees, the car crashed into a large oak. Regaining consciousness after a day or so, the driver was nowhere to be found.
Ria patrolled the area while James rummaged through the car. In the glove compartment, he found a map and a camera. "Ria, our cover might not have been blown, right?" James whispered as he studied the map. "Of course not, everything was carefully planned to seem like a coincidence. I’ll just exterminate that pest who landed us in such a situation. Is that map of any use?” Ria snatched the camera and scrutinized the pictures of a robbery in process. "Very well, we have sufficient proof to arrest these people, inform backup.” They started the car and soon reached a motel they often stayed in during missions. It was the middle of the night when sounds from the cupboard woke them up.
Ria went forth to check the cupboard and saw a sealed door. She shot it open with her gun and carefully stepped in while James followed suit. Inside, they saw a small, black backpack. Ria scoured through the backpack and found an antique phone. The words “PINK PANTHER FOR SALE” popped on the screen as James examined it and commanded “The world’s only pink diamond is now being auctioned in The World Auction Centre, Las Vegas. We need to catch the next flight to Vegas and bring back the stolen jewel. We have 12 hours before the bidding starts.”
Within six hours, they were at the auction, patiently waiting for their jewel. The RAW had given them the exact location and the targets they had to take down. They together were an unstoppable team. Very soon, they had entered the private lounge of their targets. “Is it that guy with the diamond cuffs or the one with that watch?” Ria whispered in the communication device. “Who cares, let’s just shoot them all. Load your gun, we’ll start on three. I have spotted the diamond in that briefcase.” Gunshots echoed in the sound-proof lounge, and splattered blood dirtied Ria’s white gown. The RAW had cracked open the briefcase and prepared to escort the two agents home when they received a message on their server.
“WE WORKED WELL TOGETHER, LONG ENOUGH. WE GOT BACK WHAT’S OURS, AND NOW, ADIEU.” The duo recorded this video and boarded a helicopter. The RAW soon lost all traces of their best agent and ace hacker. Amongst the haywire trap the RAW tried to set for them and the public criticism they received, no one could believe that the duo had gone rogue. While the RAW was on the brink of collapsing, only one agent, ‘The hunter’ as he was often called, was calm enough to find clues about James’ whereabouts. He had waited for an interesting case for too long, and opportunity knocked at his door. He hunted for the runaway duo all over the world and soon began a cat-and-mouse game between the best of their fields.
