It Takes Two To TANGO

It Takes Two To TANGO

It was a pleasant Friday evening in the 46th Wall Street NYC. The roads were busy with cars and taxis hooting around. The streets started to fill with people eager to kick off their weekend. In the bustling neighborhood, one could easily savour the aroma coming from the kitchen of the grand new restaurant, TANGO. The pungent smell of sea fish, smoked chickens and the bitter-sweet fragrance of the freshly cut vegetables was already attracting passersby to stop for a quick refreshment.

As the sun begins to descent over the iconic skyline of New York City, casting a warm golden hue across the streets, the pulse of the city quickens in joy of the weekend ahead. I was sitting with my fingers crossed in my restaurant, contemplating the footfall on the opening day. Soon, New Yorkers started turning up at the main vintage door of TANGO with anxious expressions! The reason was the signboard outside " Free cocktails for all and $3 margaritas till 8pm".

I was calm, as there was ample space to accommodate the influx of people. I had thoughtfully created the place with both indoor and outdoor seating. It was beautifully lit by chandeliers featuring strands of crystals dripping down from a halo of flowers as the centerpiece attraction, coordinated with retro Indian wallpapers showcasing the myriad cultures of our country, altogether creating a classy ambiance. As people helped themselves unwind, a few blonde waitresses in black dress started serving the free cocktail. Guests responded in an overwhelming manner, as they sipped the berry lemonade and socialized with friends on my imported Italian couches.

All of a sudden, my eyes fell on a couple sitting cozily in the balcony chair, completely oblivious to their surroundings. I grew curious, like James Bond and kept an eagle eye on them. It was dimly lit there, so I could only visualize that the man had rippling muscles and a French beard. He was probably wearing a white shirt underneath his black tuxedo suit. He looked handsome to steal away my heart, and so was his lady love, beautiful with golden hairs. They looked like the perfect romantic couple from the Hollywood movies.

I was tempestuously watching, and then I saw him keeping his arms over her thin, bare shoulder, which was popping out of her red velvet gown. Now that he was really close, he leaned back behind her shoulder and brushed his lips gently through her ears. That light touch might have sent shivers that made her whole-body tremble. She drew him closer by his collar, like an impulse to a stimulus. His insistent mouth was parting her shaking lips, evoking her deepest sensations. And before I could divert my attention, their lips were in conjunction, her hands wrapped around his masculine body, feeling each line of his perfect physique. His hands ventured over her curved body, exploring her from neck to waist. They pulled apart after a while, opened their eyes, and stared deep into each other’s eyes. No words were spoken, but a story worthy of love was communicated, leaving me in complete awe.

Outside the vibrant ambience of TANGO, the evening sky was getting dark, the man on the jukebox started playing hip-hop tracks to grab all attention. Soon, young boys and girls started flocking to the corners of the dance floor to tap their shoes. While some group of girls chose to munch on our lip-smacking spaghetti with magical cocktails. The bartenders were known for possessing a secret magic wand as the queue near the cocktail station was never-ending.

I noticed a lonely man sitting at the corner of the bar, ordering a couple of drinks. Who knows what he is grieving about? A gorgeous lady walks past him and says, "Hi, Do you mind if I sit here?" His face brightened immediately, like a silver lining on the cloud.

He nodded and opened up his heavy heart, and then they engaged in conversation, which gradually changed to giggles and laughter outbursts. Seeing them in the amazing twist of fate, I really wished that this lonely man found a good friend in her.

At a few tables, I observed new friendships germinate out of complete strangers. Whereas on other tables, sat a group of bachelors chilling with beer mugs, discussing sports and politics.

As the clock ticked 12:00 midnight, the DJ Ryan announced, “Ladies and gentlemen, It's the last song of the night. Silence! and he played 'I walk a lonely road from Greenday'. Everybody got mesmerized and swayed their hands left and right with the tunes of the music. It was so lovely to see people enjoying themselves at my place.

Now that people were wishing good nights to each other, again my eyes fell on that perfect couple. I was stunned to see that the man was none other than Jamie Dornan, the famous celebrity of Hollywood!

He was proposing to her girl with a diamond ring in hand. He asked, “Will you be mine, Jenny?” I started screaming. “Bitch! say No!! No! No!! He belongs to me. Leave him. Go away, girl!! He can't be yours.

Ouch! a tight slap lands on my face.

I wake up drenched in sweat.

My sister wakes me up from my colorful dream. There is no restaurant. No Jamie!!! Nothing!

But this dream has ignited a spark inside me—the ambition of setting up my own restaurant for people of all classes.

Be it a college student who wants to take his girl out for a date, or a regular office goer who wants to relax after work, or a popular celeb who wants to express his love, the answer is TANGO—the place for all.

I dream of building a restaurant where people not only come to dine or party but also take back precious memories. A place where a wanderer can feel a sense of belongingness to wipe away loneliness. The music's played here would give strength when someone feels weak and imbibe confidence to walk the journey of life alone.

Dear readers, I would definitely encourage all of you to dream big in life. One day, I would like to read your dream. Let your dreams transform into thoughts and shape them into actions, and one day you will see your dream standing in real-life in front of you.

This reminds me of John Lennon’s famous lines:

You may say I'm a dreamer …

But I'm not the only one .

I hope someday you'll join us ….

And the world will be one.
