Honour Killing - A New Definite

It's 2019. People are fond of high apartment blocks, closed doors, isolations, laptops, mobile phones, depression and anxiety where Rangolis, playgrounds, kites, lovely gatherings and happiness laughed from a distance.

In one such apartment, there lived a man, who was in his forties and was an unmarried chain smoker. It's enough for the filthy society to name a man characterless. He has been used as one great giant to scare kids and make them eat.

There lived a girl, in the same apartment in her late twenties. She was single, young, independent and working. She stayed alone in her block. She was one of the so-called cultureless modern women and was bestowed with a hell lot of complaints and plenty of advise.

One day, she was on her way to the ninth floor and the man showed up. He got into the lift and she was cool about that. Both went in and it was not as expected. The man turned out to be the molester. It was just 2 minutes but the pain he gave started pricking every cell of her body. And she came running and crying into her apartment.

People gathered. They called her names for her short dresses, parties and late-night calls. They said that the incident was just the gift to her carefree behavior.

Some were busy discussing whether to give police complaint or to vacate both of them immediately from that apartment (Rape is the only crime where the victim gets worst punishments than the accused). The place looked more like a market place where everyone shouts and no one listens. People were busy burying their opinions into the black holes of that mourning house.

I killed him, she muttered and cried like a baby.... Maybe like a modern girl.

And the silence that followed ate all their opinions.
