Gifted Gabby - The Giraffe With The Best Gift In The World

A few years back, the animal kingdom faced a tragedy suddenly. For 2 years, an unwanted plague unleashed itself on the entire kingdom

Their groups were reduced by a scary number and panic filled the air. The air itself was dangerous and everyone had to stop their daily routines and compromise on the quality of their food, shelter, and lives. They just prayed for their well-being. 

Sounds familiar, right?

At the end of the second year, it was the ‘holiday season again, but no one felt like celebrating after all that darkness, and maybe more soon. The older animals especially could not graze confidently outdoors. No one had gotten over their losses and many were scared for the future. 

In the giraffe tribe was Gifted Gabby, a quiet and observing giraffe. 

She cared a lot for everyone and wanted to spread the holiday cheer in a quieter but warmer way this year's end. 

So, she gathered the youngsters and went on for fresh leaves gathering. Carefully, she collected heaps and heaps of leaves, so fresh, crunchy, and delicious. Some of the kids weren’t tall enough for the trees so they jumped on each other to get to the treetops. It was the first time they had had fun, in a really long time.

When the fresh leaves were all gathered in one place, she invited all the giraffe groups to feast. 

Sadly, no one turned up.

Gabby had to do something quickly as the leaves would not have stayed fresh for too long. She began to sing loudly to gather everyone’s attention in the grassland and she had the sweetest voice.

For the ones we love

Come one and all

Let’s feast with the mourning dove

We don’t know what tomorrow holds

But we’re together now

We don’t have to celebrate…

Just smile somehow

Come one and all

Let’s love and stand tall’

The elders found it so beautiful and moving. They quietly listened to the song and were filled with so many emotions that they had held for two whole years. The youngsters felt it too and were overwhelmed by all the emotions. All the families walked into the middle of the grassland to embrace their children, sing with them, and finally, eat some fresh leaves.

It was after a long they ate together, hugged, cried, and finally smiled. They knew the upcoming year might be hard too, but they could face it together.

Wondering, what was Gifted Gabby’s Gift? 

Her greatest gift was Compassion. 

Compassion goes a very long way. Sometimes we need that one compassionate friend who can pull us out of our darkness and spread some light into our hearts again. This holiday season, she gifted everyone to love and received love as a return gift too!

I know it’s difficult right now, these two years have not been easy. But I wish you endless compassion and love. I hope we are all surrounded by it every day and night.
