Fliers - 6

Mayank almost dropped his phone when he saw Mandira standing in front of him. He was shocked, surprised and amused. So was Mandira. She didn't expect to see him either. She was staring at him with an almost open mouth. Mayank walked towards Mandira. He smiled and shook hands with her.

She smiled back. He decided in that very moment that he won't let go of any opportunity to spend more time with her. Besides this was destiny that had brought them face to face, so how could he say no. The presentation went well. Mandira knew her work well. By the time Mandira finished her presentation other candidates had also arrived, but Mayank had no time for them. He had already shortened his trip and he had no time to entertain people when he had already made a decision. He got up and walked out of the place without saying a word.

Mandira spent the day exploring the city the whole day. She had no news yet about the contract when she reached her hotel late evening. She had been waiting the whole day but all she got was anxiety. Mandira called room service for dinner. After dinner, she switched on the TV but she fell asleep instantly. She was tired of a whole lot of walking she did the whole day.

The next morning Mandira woke up hearing her phone ring. Though she had a sound sleep yet she was in no mood to get out of her bed. Her flight was booked for the next day. She had nothing to do the whole day. She was in no mood to walk in the streets of an unknown city all alone. She had heard nothing about the contract yet. She even called the organisers but even they had no idea. Her brother had called her every hour yesterday to know about the same. It must be him only calling her. She didn't pick the call. She didn't even bother to look who was calling.

When the phone rang again she answered irritatingly, "For god's sake will you please stop calling me and let me sleep". She was about to cut the call but before she could the person on the other side answered. "I sure will". It was not her brother's voice. She looked at the phone screen. It was an unknown number. She shoved it back to her ear and said, "I am really sorry. I thought it's my brother. Who is this?"

The person on the other side answered, "Hi. I am Mayank." She knew that this was happening yet she couldn't believe it so she asked again "Mayank? Who?" When Mayank said his full name her phone slipped out of her hand and fell on the bed.
