Denial Of Freedom

Thara was a girl whose parents committed suicide due to heavy loan. She uses to work in the field and household to repay the loan. She lived alone in a small house. One day while she was returning from her work she was raped.

Thara went to the village head to complain about the rape but he was not willing to listen to her. Then to the police station there also she was treated brutally. She then came to know about an organisation have deals with violence against women and children. She decided to seek help from that organisation.

It was during that Britishers ruling India. She went to the organisation and informed them of her case. They told her that the whole nation is fighting for freedom and will gain freedom soon. This will help her to gain her justice. With the hope that soon her problem will be solved Thara returned.

Thara waited for days which turned to weeks and later to months. Within this time she became pregnant. She was in a helpless condition and visited the organisation many times but they repeated the same thing of freedom. At last India gained freedom which was celebrated by the whole nation.

The working of the organisation became more active and spread to many places. When they took Thara's issue and visited her. She was enquired about the issue. The officer asked who is responsible for her situation and who is the father of the baby. She pointed to the officer and said that if you had done some action at that time. The situation will not become worst. All of them treated her cruelly because she belongs to the Dalit community. No use to reveal the name of the criminal and she shut the door.

The next day Thara and the baby committed suicide because of the denial of her right
