Dear Diary,

Date: 25/03/2020

HOPE THAT PEOPLE WILL BE SAFE SOON

I LEARNT THE IMPORTANCE OF CONVEYING THINGS SENSITIVELY.

It was nine in the morning when my dad woke me up and said that my native place has recorded the first COVID-19 positive case. I just remembered all my people there and prayed that all will stay safe.

My dad continued that the victim of COVID-19 was the daughter of a 71-year-old man and she had returned from Guyana. Till date as she was living with her father and I thought he might be affected! I replied that if he is tested positive then he will die. My dad was annoyed and told that if he is tested positive there will be difficulties and death is not the supreme thought here. My dad left the room.

My sister who is a psychologist told me to be in the position of a doctor and told me that if your patient is tested positive for any disease and is in critical condition, you can't tell the patient that they will die but explain the difficulties faced and the efforts to be made. This made me think in silence.

She continued that if you have any difficulties in any situation, there will be a major difference in conveying it. There is a difference in telling ' I am not good at it ' and telling ' I am bad at it ' .

Boom! I thought of my way of speaking and learned to convey things more proper and sensitive.
