Everything was set for my first anniversary with my boyfriend, Sam. Things had been going really great for us. With our parents accepting our relationship, Sam getting the job he had been keen about and me getting promoted to MD things really did take a good turn for us. And to celebrate it I had planned our first anniversary on a boat in this beautiful lake we first met at.

I get into a strapless black dress that I’m sure he’s gonna love. He seemed pretty much shocked out of his senses. After dinner, he got down on his knees and proposed to me. Now it was my turn to be flabbergasted. Of course, I answered in affirmative and we melted in each other’s arms as we looked out at the lake. It was pretty much empty by then.

“I have got another surprise for you,” I said turning around to face him. “Really? What could be better than this?” He raised his eyebrow puzzlingly. “This.” I pushed him into the lake and watched as he drowned. After stalling for a few minutes I started wailing and screaming for help. But by the time people arrived, it was too late for him.

Looking at his dead body I felt a sense of satisfaction. Fear mixed with adrenaline coursed through my veins when I pushed him off the boat. Anticipation underlined with worry had been predominant emotion since I had decided to go through with it.

I had been working on my novel which circles around the theme, romantic thriller. The protagonist is a deranged serial killer who has a disturbing habit of killing her boyfriends. It had been quite tough to write about her killer instincts and to get through it I did what she had done, killed my boyfriend. Though he had been first on my list and there were more to come. After all, I had a book to complete.
