Best Experience With A Beggar
Best Experience With A Beggar
I would like to repeat one of my answers when I was stuck in a railway station and was in a dilemma. I met a beggar and I was amazed for what he did.
Three years ago, I missed my train in between my way to the destination. I got off the train to buy snacks. Suddenly, I heard the whistle of the train. When I turned back to the train, I saw the train started moving. I was shocked and tried to catch the train but unfortunately, failed to do so. I got off from the train in a small sub-station where there were no stalls. I was in a quandary situation, people of that station were looking damn weird. I couldn’t gather enough courage to share my situation with any of them. I decided to calm down at first.
After 10–15 minutes, I went inside to get some information about the next stop. I went inside but no one was there. I was astonished. I waited for another train, but it had been more than one hour that no train passed from there.
I had my phone but no signal. I had a wallet and enough money inside but no stall. Also, I was so worried about the luggage that I left inside the train.
I was so helpless. There was no one whom I could ask for help. I was starving and continued my wait for the arrival of any train. Four hours passed away, it was around 1:00 a.m. When I found myself in succumb situation, there was a beggar he was looking at me.
At first, I held my wallet tightly because it was the only hope with which I could reach my destination safely.
He continued looking at me, I was avoiding him. He was understanding the situation that I had missed my train.
After a few minutes, he opened his bag (which was so dirty that I can't even touch it) and took a poly bag off the bag. There was his dinner inside that poly bag. He started eating Paratha without any pickle or vegetables. I was starving and was so thirsty. I was looking for a stall to buy drinking water and some food stuff. Unfortunately, failed to find any stall there. I got off the train after seeing a stall there but there was nobody at that shop. I sat on the chair beside that beggar.
After a few minutes of sitting there, the beggar called me. He said- “I think you have missed your train and it's been a long time, you waited here. No train will pass this sub-station till 6′o clock. You must be hungry. I do not have good food, but I have food that can wipe away your hunger. I don’t have packed water, but I have water that can wipe away your thirst. I was stunned after listening to his words. On that day I realized they are not only takers but givers too.
I didn’t want to make him feel inferior by refusing to eat his food. So, I took a few bites of his food and took a sip of water from his bottle.
I have seen so many beautiful things, but this was something beyond my expectations. I know this is so weird to take any foodstuff by such people, but I didn’t want to make him feel bad because the statement that he used while offering food to me was heart throbbing.
That night was a nightmare for me. Nevertheless, I’m happy that all this happened to me. I have learned something that no book and no journey can ever teach me. Be good for no reason.
Help others, we never know what will happen tomorrow.
