"I walk...
I walk into the demonic forest
pitch dark, bitchy dark
I walk...
I walk towards the angelic light
that you are."
She read it once. She read it twice. She read it millions and zillions of times. Trying to understand. Trying to grasp. Yes trying to read because these were not just words. These were not just alphabets put together to form words. They were more than that. They were a lot more than that. He had said something for the first time, about her. About their relationship. No, actually he had written something. He had put everything that he had in those lines. He chose a language to speak to her she was most comfortable in. The poems. Saying all yet hiding the obvious. And this yes this exact poem was the most difficult one she had ever read. Now she realised what those poets must have felt when they wrote those classics. What their muses must have felt when they had been the one to whom those words were addressed. Even they must have failed to understands those words, those lines.
The thing which was obvious to the world was so hazy and bleak to her.She was dying with curiosity. She was dying with uncertainty. She couldn't sleep whole night. She kept tossing from side to side. She want to meet him and ask him about those words, about those feelings. But she couldn't as he was out of town. He was coming this morning but she didn't know the flight timing. When she couldn't take it any longer she fished out her phone and dialled Tina's number. Tina is Vikrant's secretary. She must be knowing his schedule. It was 2 in the morning, Tina didn't answer. Obviously she wouldn't. She must be fast asleep. But Vani was getting vary impatient. She dialled once again. This time Tina answered, half sleepily sh said 'hello'. "What is time of Vikrant's flight". Then there was a moment of silence. This unexpected question at this hour must have startled her. Then she answered 4 O'clock. Before she could say anything Vani disconnected the call.
She glanced at the clock on the wall. It was quarter past two. The airport was one hour drive from her place. She went to bathroom and switched on the geyser, came out and went to the wardrobe. She took out her clothes and went back to take shower. Then she went to the kitchen and ate and apple. She was trying to keep herself busy and spend some more time. She had nothing to do now so she stepped out of the door at quarter to three, went to the parking and got in her car. She turned on the ignition and switched on the radio. Her favourite song was playing. The same song which was playing in the same car on the same radio station when she first met him, Vikrant.'Anjani rahon me phir kya dhundta phire.' It's been her favourite song since then. She closed her eyes and sat there listening to the song.
When the song finished she started off towards the airport. She reached the airport at 3;55. She looked at the flight details. The flight was on time. If everything goes smoothly she would be able to see him in next 30 minutes. And exactly this happened. Thirty minutes passed but not as a blink of time but as an eternity. With every passing moment it felt that the clock had stopped ticking,it felt that the time has stopped.
Then she saw him, their eyes met and time actually stopped. So did he. Then after a few seconds he started walking towards her, not breaking their eye contact for even a fraction of second. Now he was standing in front of her a few inches away. He was looking into her eyes. All that she could hear was thumping of their hearts, in unison. All her questions seemed to have been answered. They had been answered by his eyes and his heart. Then he took her hand and they walked towards the exit. Without saying a word.
